Sneak Peek!
Hey everyone, this thread will serve to show off new features in short, simple videos, aptly titled the Sneak Peek series of Take On Mars videos.

First in the series is moving about in zero/micro gravity without a Manned Maneuvering Unit.

Second in the series shows the process of making methane, used as fuel for vehicles. Also shown is driving at night time.

Enjoy!

Swimming in space? Would it really work? :)

Just the animation, will be replaced soon. The important thing is that you cannot control your movement unless objects are nearby, and you exert a force on them equal and opposite to your movement. Turning is the only unrealistic part, where you can freely turn around as you wish. Obviously this is left in for gameplay purposes :)

Yeah, that makes good sense :)

Will we ever be able to land on a map from zero-g? A bit of a stretch I know....

Maybe Deimos would work :)

Wait a second if there will be Deimos manned missions in space program , how will we actually spawn , is is Manned Zero G Lander :O

Not sure exactly what you mean, but in the video, it is the deimos location, which has terrain below. So had I pushed away from the crates downward, I'd reach the ground.

Not in space program, but in scenarios and multiplayer. In multiplayer you spawn as usual in the Manned Landing Module, which stops itself about 1km above the surface of Deimos. Moving around inside the module is using what's in the video (or for the daring, outside), but there is also the Manned Maneuvering Unit, essentially a jetpack, for moving around.

I meant be able to have a scenario that starts in zero-g above one of the mars/moon maps and be able to land on said map.

I see, well the transition from orbit to surface has not been done, technically it is a lot of work. However being in zero-g above Deimos is already there, and you can land on its surface (though it has extremely low gravity compared to Mars).

Sneak peek will be I guess weekly, though I'll do the videos every time a new feature or something worth showing off is implemented.

I usually start my own servers from home, quite random, when I feel like playing. I was on most of yesterday, for example :)
