LANDOWNER SHOULD NOT BE INVINCIBLE!
Now personally, i love the Landowner npc. He is one of the sickest looking, haunting, generally awesome enemies out of all the robots in this game. But the fact that the landowner is not possible to kill, really kills the survival XP for me. It really feels great to fight back against the hunters. It gives me a sense of power, knowing that you could some how beat this army of robots. But since the Landowner is unkillable, i instantly feel weak, or i lose the immersion of being in the world. The devs could at least make him a major challenge to kill, like 20+ revolver bullets, 15+ shotgun shells, 10+ rifle rounds, or 3 sticks of dynamite.

But what do you guys think? Do you like him the way he is, or would you like to see changes?

I do believe that being able to kill the Landowner (for rare rewards) would be a good thing, even if he re-spawns when you return to the island.

i agree that he would have to drop the best loot in the game if killed.

Is he actually unkillable or is it just a figure of speech? Geez o.o
I disagree, I think the Landowner should not be killable. I actually want him more dangerous in almost very way. Right now he is way too slow to be any threat at all, I think saying the Landowner is a threat on his own would be silly. He was supposed to be the end-all enemy who must be avoided at all costs, the very late game enemy. I don't understand how it ruins the survival aspect of the game for you though (but I'm not you), running away is a legitimate survival method. And how is immersion lost for you?

i see your points and you do make great sense. The reason i lose the immersion of the game is because i lose the feeling to fight back against anything (but hey, thats just me). I want the exciting thrill of fighting the landowner, and my victory would be rewarded with amazing loot. I would rather have the landowner be more of a challenge then just some npc you stare at from a distance.

I see where you're coming from, like a "Borderlands-y" kinda feel? But that brings up the question, what kind of loot would he drop? As it stands, the riders and the poachers drop the best possible loot. He could have a rifle on him, but would it be worth it killing him for a rifle? Maybe there could be new items. OR... here's an interesting idea... what if he holds the final piece of the device, and he must be killed in order to escape the archipelago...?

wow... the fragment idea is amazing. But you do have a point, the riders and poachers already drop great loot. Maybe a new melee weapon, like his cane. That would be pretty great. But since its so powerful, it would have to eventually break.

The unkillable landowner doesn't break immersion for me, but I do think he should be killable and carry the best weapon in the game, something that has not even been introduced to the game yet. LIKE: a weapon that re-programs a robot to fight on your side! Or.... (wait for it)..

or.....(deep breath)

OR........ (dramatic pause)

...A TELEPORTER TO FAST TRAVEL AROUND THE ISLAND.

This game is to easy and boring as it is now. An invincible enemy spices it up a bit at least.

All those ideas you have there ruin the aspect of the game (just me but I think (again just me) some people would agree with me)

would the landowners cane make a good melee weapon in your guys opinion?

I think the Landowner should guard the last peice so you can either kill him (10 dynimite) or grad the piece and run like hell
Kosworth Mar 9, 2014 @ 3:32am
Personally, he should be killable. If he is no threat because of how slow he is. Then I guess I'll just spend my time shooting a house....collecting traps, foraging for food, finding ammo....shooting the house again. Think about that for a second. In the event that I kill him (The Landowner, not the house) I do NOT want loot! Making the point that an enemy that takes 3 sticks of dynamite, 20 rifle rounds and 180 bottles to kill. Is such a challenge and/or burden that I don't want any loot because I know I will only be disappointed even if he is carrying 6 rusty trombones and a fireman's hat. The loot for me is saying I did it. Maybe a ring for a trophy that takes 4 spaces and does absolutely nothing but take up space and make me feel like the savage I am.
