Well, the devs that made Archeblade... didn't really "want" to make Archeblade. They mostly thought of it as a moneymaking potential.

MAIET had a different situation, but probably just as bad. There were clearly conflicts within the dev team, hence the varied mechanics change and designs change. Then of course, the team fell apart.
