Hmm...so, a challenge with the worst weapons, huh? Let me list a few for each one:

Best weapons: energy sword, laser rifle, energy hammer, laser pistol, auto crossbow, gatling slugger, hyper launcher

Worst weapons: screwdriver, SMG, disc gun, super slugger, assault slugger, super crossbow, ion cannon

Best weapon type: energy (including energy melee)

Worst weapon type: bullet (all the types are pretty good, but maybe if I had to choose one)

Best weapons: energy sword, laser rifle, auto crossbow, gatling slugger, hyper launcher, auto shotgun, blood launcher, lightning cannon (yea its good just rare), lightning shotgun, lightning smg and bazooka (just because its fun to use :P )

Worst weapons: screwdriver, super slugger, super crossbow, ion cannon, plasma cannon (12 ammo per shot...), quadruple and triple machineguns, toxic bow, lightning rifle, chicken sword, jackhammer, energy screwdriver.

I can't be bothered to make a long list. I always try to get laser rifle(laser gun will do until I eventually get the laser rifle later) or auto shotgun(any shotgun is good temporarily).
If I get an energy or a shell weapon, I pick the laser brain or shotgun fingers mutations if they become available.
Still haven't beaten 7_2, but I've only gotten there with auto shotgun + shotgun fingers on one occasion and laser rifle + laser brain on another. You'd be hard pressed to keep back the enemies in world 7 with anything that's weaker.

I dislike the disc gun the most. The splinter weapons too are pretty much useless to me. Explosives are risky so I don't use them much, but if I have them at hand and I'm in world 3, they're great to get rid of those annoying flamethrower traps.
I think the disc gun is a prank by the devs, like they did in Super Crate Box.

My strategy is to try to get an energy weapon and a shotgun and to consume all the others(when I play robot), and then I upgrade when I come across better weapons. If I can get laser rifle or auto shotgun(preferably both), I'm pretty much set!

Oh, and any weapon consuming massive amount of ammo I avoid at all costs. If I get the triple machinegun, which happens often with Robot, I consume it because every time I've relied on it I've run out of ammo(duh).
