I'd be in heaven if we had an option to play at 60 fps. I already mentioned this in another thread but I believe would feel much slicker and even more frantic at 60 :-)
And im addition it is harder to notice the difference at a lower resolution
And Glass is right, Youtube, and most video sites, are at 30 FPS no matter what you do. ....there's actually ALOT of things that run at 30. Most people though simply do not notice this. Heck, alot of video capture software for recording games or whatever are actually incapable of producing anything beyond 30.
If you dont focus on it and stop thinking about it so much, you might stop noticing it. I can spot even tiny differences in framerate, but I approach it with an "I couldnt care less" sort of view, and thus it doesnt bug me.
The only time when it REALLY matters is if the game in question starts choking on itself and the framerate starts leaping up and down and chugging and such, as that usually is an indication of something being wrong. Fortunately, it never seems to do this.
Here is the difference of 30 vs 60

Back to Nuclear Throne...
There wouldn't need to be double frames, you can use the exact same number of sprites we currently have, but everything would just scroll/move smother.
A good example why more fames arent needed is that the game runs at 30fps now... however the animation of the sprites are not changinf every single frame, they dont need to make make 30 sprites for each second lots of the sprites get held for a certain number of frames but the movement of its location can move 30 times per second.
Here a great example of a one frame and how it looks how scrolling/moving at different frame rates...

Try placing it to 120 pixels per second. Notice how you can no longer tell the difference?
Hmmm the difference still there, very little, but the 30fps is blurred in comparision the the 60fps one at 120ppp. Not that I care playing at 30fps :) but we have to be fair.

Nuclear Thron is made with it so if you knew the materia of making
games with it you will see that if they chang from 30 to 60 fps it will be much
tweaking and re coding for them.
and lets be honest a human eye sees about 25 fps so 30 fps looks as near as fluent
as 60 fps, not full but as near as.
and you alle played xbox360 or ps3 games that where all 25 to 30 fps all time^^
