"The currently installed versions of drivers is newer then what your trying to install. Aborting"
The thing is.... it doesn't do anything.

Just sits there, there's a cancel button/

I can press it and play, but then when I start the game again it comes up.

Ok I was having the same issue, the way i resolved it is I went to the PAYDAY folder "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\PAYDAY The Heist" (this depends on your OS and where you have steam but this is 64bit default). Open the "redist" folder then the "PhysX" folder and delete the installer "PhysX-9.12.0613-SystemSoftware.exe". From then on when you start the game it won't try to run it because it is no longer there. Hope that helps.

Or read the sticky regarding common problems and fixes. Delete the installscript.vdf file.

edit: wow, didn't notice this thread is 2 years old already.

Then read the sticky post called Common Problems and Fixes. Other than pointing out that you need to do some reading, I can't help you.
