I am also screwed up on this case. If I fail to do something right it seems I am stuck. This is some real bullshite.:pizzaslice: Also all the walkthroughs seem to be crap.

so if you dont do things in the right order it breaks !!!
so frustrating this........so do i need to restart the case ?

Hello,

I don't think that order is so important, that it leaves you with a stuck, if you don't precisely follow.
I also don't think you have to restart the case - as far as I know, you never get stuck - you can always change clues connections to get new thoughts.

I would try to go to the deduction, where the clues are, and try to match them at every possible way. If you use them all, try to pick up different facts from "shared" cells - maybe they give you new ideas.

Also - Have you both examined all the things till the magnifying glass icon turns green?
Maybe you have some things in your inventory that need to be used or checked? Have you spoke to everyone till the end?

I'm sure there is something to be done :)

my option for the "swift actions" clue is not there
RRevy Jan 2, 2015 @ 1:18pm
Oh my, seems like I'd need your save to see/help, but what's interesting, that I've read similar problem here with no possibility to check suspect's belongings if you spoke with the suspect first, but i've never check this or anything so I don't know.

Check official walkthrough before you restart the case - maybe it will help you to find what makes you stuck >> http://www.gameboomers.com/wtcheats/pcSs/SH7/SH7.htm

I tried for another few attempts and give up, restarted, followed the walkthrough and ok.
very disappointed if i need to follow the walkthrough all the time.
it was a character who for some reason would not progress the clues.

I just finished the first case myself few minutes ago. I didn't have any issues with the ship's log book and torn page. One of the last areas i visited was the pub disguised as a sailor to engage in a arm wrestling match with a suspect ship crew member. Somewhere in between probably after I worked on the puzzle option linking everything and had two choices to either condem the man and lock him up or exonerate him and strike a deal and shortly after that a cutscene ensued and completion results. Now I'm on the next case. Some guides help looking for particular information that is scattered throughout the internet.

Nah, come on. Better search everything once again, then ask and at the end - use a walkthrough. ;) Forget about that bad impression and enjoy!

Good luck with the next case, guys!

I'm having trouble myself. I've tried several possible endings and then I said to myself "let's try the second case." Well, no matter what I choose in any of the menus/submenus, I don't see any option for the other cases. I uninstalled the game, deleted every reference to Sherlock on my PC including the registry but Steam seems to have my last game status. If I choose continue, new case or anything else - same thing - my game reloads. I want to move on to the other cases and not play every ending. This stinks. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

You don't have to play all the endings - you have to accept just one.
I'm not sure if I understand you good, but here's how it works:

1. Pick a conclusion
2. Pick a moral choice (condemn or absolve)
3. Confirm your moral choice
4. Watch/play the ending
5. Case summary shows up > "Accept Decision" > Confirm that by clicking "Yes"
6. Ranking shows up > Press "Continue" and the game goes to the second case by itself.

Like in this video (go to about 14 minutes 37 sec., no spoiler for you, first case ending):

It doesn't work for you that way? When you're pressing "Continue" it goes back to the beginning of the first case? Or is it reloading last save (before the moral choice, I suppose)?

I realize this was posted back in January (2015), I believe, but having just picked up playing the game, I too constantly ran into this problem. Even after following the walk-through, I knew there was a problem when questioning Neligan in the interrogation room about the ring, it was not even an option.

So, I reloaded the game where Holmes arrives at Scotland Yard, and this time, while inspecting JHN's stuff in the Evidence Room, I discovered that it was not enough to rotate the ring to observe the entire description, but it was absolutely necessary to "examine" - i.e., hover the mouse directly over the 3 parts of the inscription, which permits Holmes to confirm, by reading out loud the entire engraving on the inside of the ring!

Then,

Upon returning to interrogate Neligan, you will see the Ring script appear as another option to ask about; and when you do be prepared to click the "Q" key to allow Holmes to make his deduction.

If you MISS ANY Clue step along the way, then it becomes impossible to, by example, review Holme's newspaper archives back at Baker Street or open the Ship's log book ... and it's impossible to advance the case.

I hope this might help some future, new player of the game ... if only to spare them the frustration I battled over and over again - almost despairing to the point of giving up on the game.

So, don't give up! Just triple-check that you not only look - but also be sure to "examine" - i.e., hover your mouse over anything you see - because, it's not enough to simply 'look'; one must "examine" (or in Holme's own words, to paraphrase, "You see, but you fail to 'observe'!" Good Luck!!!!

Stuck on the first case I have processed all the evidence at the secne and the belonging of both ofthe first to suspects and and deduced both innocent. Wiggins has found Patrich Cairns for me at the the Seawitch Pub I think it was, it obvious from the wardrob I should but on the sailor outfit to go see Carins at the pub. But Carins doesn't show up in the deduction window, the pub isn't on the map, the sailor suite is still locked and I've checked everything I don't so far again and then against two different walkthroughts(only at this point) and yet the game has brought me to a dead end. Anyone?

I'm stuck on first case too. Wiggins will not return for me. I can't progress.

Well a year later, but hopefully it helps someone else :)
