Dear Dev, please explain: Why Early Access for a story driven game?
I understand the purpose of Early Access and how it can help indie developers. However, in case of Wasteland or any other story driven game, it makes no sense to me, as it completely destroys the immersion factor for the final release version. Or is Early Access handled differently in Wasteland and the Story is no part at all in this early version? Please enlighten me. Thanks!

That's actually the reason I haven't jumped in yet. Games like this surely are story driven and without all of that in place it's, to me, not sensible to jump in ATM.

Same reason for me too. Am also keen to see reviews when its released, not anything that's effectively beta

I doubt they put that much thought into it to be honest, I think they thought they were being nice to offer it. They have been rewarded with endless whining and complaints about it since.

It is simply an offer to join in the beta if you want to. But they can't offer it for less than the kickstarter crowd paid, hence the hefty price.

That's quite defensive.

Nobody stated that they're 'doing it wrong', or were 'misled'. Only that Early Access games that are based on a story, such as this, don't work too well for Early Access if the story is incomplete. And I agree with that.

If we were talking about a sandbox game like Minecraft, then Early Access is (was) perfect.

This isn't a rant about the quality of the game. I'm looking forward to jumping onboard but I want to experience the full story, hence why I won't be buying it yet.

Well, YOU KNOW WHAT? You're right. :) Unproductive post deleted.

I don't think my post was defensive, I was just trying to explain. But I was reading into the OP what a lot of other posts have been saying about the price for an incomplete game. I should not have replied to this post but one of the others. Sorry about that.

And yes, the OP point makes sense, and it is something I had thought about early on after the beta got released.
