The Ship SDK
I am curious if there is anyone else that wants to learn the SDK tools to create custom maps or is working on a map right now and would like to bounce ideas back and forth, I'm working on a few maps myself currently.

Be interested to see what you're working on. If there's enough interest from other people we could setup a subforum here for people to chat about it. :)
That'd be great, Eandaen! Scurvydog here, creator of "Lyonesse" custom map for the ship! I've been tempted to make another ship recently, but it's all a case of juggling time etc! :/
Would be brilliant if more people got involved in map making, would keep it very fresh. Other than the Master Server List issue lack of new maps is the only thing holding the game back!

One thing that might really help is a tutorial video; one of the biggest regrets I have about making Lyonesse is that I didn't record it being built...

Will help whenever I can Synthro! I really need to re-install the SDK, you got me on steam :)

I'd like to learn it some day too. I've made a few maps for cs:s and hl2 ages ago but I mainly write plugins. Maybe I'll have some ideas to share too.

While we can't make any technical changes to the game (so Workshop integration isn't possible), we do have other things in the pipeline. It's VERY early stage right now, but if there's enough interest and support for this kind of stuff we can see what we can do to help.

Id love any kind of help with this, maybe there could be a way to improve the SDK since its not the game code persay. I am curious what you guys have planned, and if you were to make a ship 2 would you include a workshop and tools to do this.

To answer your earlier question, Workshop support is something we'd love to do. It's not planned as part of the current development project for The Ship: HD (we have a specific timetable for this that we need to stick to). However, if there's enough support though, we'll factor it into future plans. :)

Thats awesome, its great to hear about the development of a newer more refreshed version of The Ship: Murder Party. (As I love it for the style and environment). I now wonder if the HD version will be developed on the source engine, and there is slight worry towards wither or not people will want to create maps if the original has a chance of being left in the dust. Personally, I dont mind as long as the HD version has good support for custom maps and content, if so I would glad learn the new tools and deliver.

I would like to learn how to make maps, although I have pretty much no experience in it. I'm assuming the HD version will be on a new engine, meaning that it would be better to just wait and learn the new tools when the time comes. Which is good I suppose, because I've heard Hammer is one of the hardest editors around.

I've heard differently, Hammer is quite easy to learn (Since I pretty much taught myself) but I can understand you wanting to wait. However, that is what Im afraid of for most people interested in making custom content.

HD is being developed using Unity. With regards ongoing support for the original game, we're pretty limited to what we can do just now anyway, but we will do what we can on an ongoing basis.

Custom content is something we're keen on for HD - as I said earlier, it's still early days - we'll have more info about what we're able to do later in the year.

I for one, would love a TF2-style curated workshop of cosmetics for the game. If I could make a hat that would start showing up in closets, that would be the bee's knees.
