black screen

just as the title says. i get a black screen on boot up. no video what so ever but i still have sound. ive reinstalled the game 3times and that didnt do it. i installed pshyx or whatever its called from nividia and that still didnt help. i have this issue with two other of my games that i know of so far. the two games being XCOM:enemy unknown, PAYDAY the heist and of course Counter Strike Source. also i checked my drivers from AMD and theyre update. the games used to run fine but now they dont. please help me fix Counter Strike Source.

It could be an issue related with the screen resolution. Try following this steps:

· Open Steam and do right click on the game and select "Properties".
· It will open you a window; click on "Set launch options".
· It will open you another window; write -windowed in there, with the "-".
· Click on "Ok" on all and load the game.

If it will show you the background, then your issue has been fixed. If you desire, you may change the game's resolution anytime you wish.
After that, you can remove the "-windowed" command from the launch options to test the new resolution (if it's working).

Also put -novid on the launch option (follow what Mocoloni said). It remove the video at the beggining of the game, that often cause black screen problem

yeah the worked. adding the -novid on the launch fixed it. thank you so much

i did all that.didnt change anything.someone said it might fix itself over the next few weeks of its own accord,so will see what happens,thanks
