FATAL ERROR: Error opening sound data.

Every time i try to run the game i get a message saying

FATAL ERROR:
Error opening sound data.

i've tried running it in compatibility mode for Windows 7 and WIndows xp sp3 running as admin and i get the same results.

Heres my specefications:

Processor Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-4460 CPU @ 3.20GHz
Video Card NVIDIA GeForce GTX 750
RAM 16 GB
Operating System Microsoft Windows 10 (build 10586), 64-bit

That's typically and error regarding the quality of the file, chances are that it got corrupted and you may need to unistall the local files

try verifying your spelunky steam files, go to "library"
1.Right click spelunky
2.select properties
3.take the third tab local files
4.Verify integrity of game cache

re-downloading the game solved the issue
