Help needed

I'm stuck guys, I've run through all the levels over five times, for hours on end now. I'm at the end of my wits, what have I missed? I need to get to this guy, got a hunch he's got something to do with the "serious pickup" achievement. But even if he doesn't, it really bothers me that I haven't found how to open the door:

I think that's the guy at the start of Temple level 1. He should open the door FOR you when you kill all the nearby enemies.

Not sure what happened there.

I guess a restart is in order then. Have you had any luck with the "serious pickup" achievement, is it connected with him?

I think it has something to do with the Gamble Vendor, and lucky marbles.
