and stopped after 30 turns or so because I was too bored to continue.
I just don't get the point of this game.
got it via humble bundle, so i'm not ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ about it being a waste of money or anything, but i can't seem to pull any enjoyment from it.
I was once maintaining a nice balance between 2 towns while keeping bandits/mythologicals down in numbers, then suddenly a ranged seige weapon spawns, picks up action points x3, and 1 action point to attack, he then leveled an entire town in 1 turn.
If you still don't see the point after having a game like that, then it's probably just not for you.
I'm at a point where I see how the bloody apocolapyse is going to get started in order to get the score I need. And I can see how all hell breaks loose.
Before this particular game, I tried another, and a catapult got 10x or 100x damage from a Ruin. Needless to say, that was a ♥♥♥♥♥ to deal with. But it was fun.
The game is basically a large combination of small puzzles.
But you can't solve all of them because then there is no game and therefore you lose.
Basically, there needs to be a game so you can win.
You don't want the game to beat you.
Skyward Collapse is amazing in that design respect. It's a game that tries to beat you as its core design, instead of being designed around the player beating it.
hmm ... maybe i'll give it a try some day ... right now I'm enjoying the Godus beta ...
And, Aroddo, if you find the game too easy, try playing with Hard or higher score requirement (and feel free to thrown in Hard or higher woe and general difficulty for extra "fun" ). The game should become less boring when you actually need to cause widespread destruction, but without either side prevailing.
he wanted to know what you do in the game and if there is more than just watching your 2 towns.
How about some different game modes? I like the random bandit idea...maybe you build towns on a huge map and bandits attack and things and random events happen...but not just single bandits but ARMIES all at the same time, so 10 enemy units appear around a camp all at once kinda thing lead by a god. And you have to survive.
That would be cool.
No no, they got it right. The solution to that original problem really is to increase the difficulty.
I've noticed this with all of Arcen's games, which is that if the difficulty is set too low, they get overly dumbed down as a result, and you dont need much strategy or skill to win.
When the difficulty is higher though.... it changes alot. You can no longer just meander easily through it by just doing whatever, instead you have to think things out, plan properly, and use good strategies/tactics, or the game tears your face off and proceeds to beat you with it. This game is very, very good at requiring lots of strategy and thinking and planning, and also very good at never having a dull moment.... but not so much on lower difficulties.
