It's mostly regarding the updates we have been promised or have expected whether it being an update planned years ago or recently.
Also if your mindset is you want to play this privately you may have troubles unless you know how to port forward and potentially will be required to use HLDSUpdateTool to download dedicated server software just to play with friends in a passworded server. Some people can do this without the software but most of the time everyone has an issue doing so. If you don't care about going in public servers you should be fine with the exception of the rare occurance of a griefer but to be honest with how small the community is at the moment I doubt you even run into a griefer.
I also agree with this post with the exception of
As a newcomer you might enjoy the game but I think you'll notice things about the game that may bother you and since the community is so small at the moment it may hinder your ability to ignore these issues. Overall though the game is $2.49 so it wouldn't be a huge loss if you ended up buying it and hating the game. I recommend buying this game with a couple of friends though if you want to play coop. If you buy the game for PvP imo there are so many better games out there that give a more fulfilling PvP experience than this.
Again though take that with a grain of salt and good luck with what ever you end up deciding on.
