EU4 steam workshop mods not working
I subscribed to a few mods in steams EU4 workshop, yet they do not show up in the EU4 launcher mod list nor in the main menus' content/mod menu... Tried restarting the game a few times but to no avail.

What's up?

This whole thing is kinda bugged, sometimes mods appear right away sometimes they don't.

For me this always worked: Restart steam (no idea if really necessary) then start EU4 (not just the launcher but really the game) and close it right away.
Mods should appear in the launcher after that.

Doesn't work for me =/ Thanks for responding anyway though.

I agree this whole thing is weird. I've never used the workshop in any other game, so I don't know how normal this is. But It takes some time between a day and a week (!) for them to appear in my game when I subscribe to an EU4 mod.

Damn... I've used it for both Skyrim and Torchlight 2, always worked perfectly.

Well something that might help:

Got to /Documents/Paradox Interactive/EU4/mods directory of your PC and look if the mods are actually to be found there.
If yes then it's a bug related to the EU4 client, if not steam messed it up.

For pc users, after subscribing, start the launcher, do not worry that you do not see the subscribed mods, and launch the game; EU IV only downloads subscribed mods when the client is run, NOT the launcher. Let the game finish loading and exit, start the launcher again and the mods should now be listed in the launcher as being available, enable the check mark next to the mods, then start the game and the mods will now be enabled for play.

@MisterSmith
It didn't even create a mod folder there, I created it manually to try and help it along but that didn't help either.
@HexCaliber
This doesn't work, as I described in the first post.

There's no official Launcher for the Mac - but there is one there, if you look in Users/USER/Library/Application Support/Steam/SteamApps/common/Europa Universalis IV/ , IIRC it's called something like EuropaUniversalisIV.app . Note that On OS X 10.8.x Apple have hidden the /Users/USER/Library/ folder. To see it go to the Finder, hit command-shift-G (ie Go To) and type in ~/Library/ .

Just wait. It happens to me too.
The way I sorted it was created my own "mod" folder in the europa folder found here > mydocuments > paradox interactive > europa universalis. After that unsubscribe and then resubscribe to the MODS. Launch the game 100% through to the title screen, without worrying about mods, close it down, close down steam, launch it all again and they should be there (hopefully) and you can tick them!

Doesn't work. Thank you for trying, though.

Just download manually from the PDX forums if they are also there and install in your mod folder. 100% success rate... ;)

Hey Birger,

I had the same problem you had and brwosed around, found this thread. i tried solutions given here, but they didn't work. One thing that always bothered me, though, was that I couldn't get ironman mode to work despite having cloud saving enabled. Well guess what, I didn't, and that's the same reason my mods didn't update after the first previous launch! It seemed like cloud saving was forced on to the game because it was grayed out, but in fact it meanth I had never enabled cloud saving for any game to begin with!

So check your cloud saving options and enable them if they're not, I hope it works out for you that way :)
