1. When you open the game a launcher pops up, Audiosurf 2 Configuration has the Input tab where you can set controls, for the keyboard and 4 player joysticks/gamepads. You do not set anything to use the keyboard or mouse. Just go ahead and use either or both. You can also set other players to use other keyboard keys.

Mouse has steering by moving left or right, then left click and right click for other functions.
Keyboard directions are A (left), D (right). Arrow keys work too <--, -->.

2. Resolutions are preset on the menu and are based on what your screen can handle. Mine goes from 640x400 to 1920x1080. 1280x720 and 1280x800 are not the only resolutions, they are just what your screen can handle. If you use dual graphic cards, you might not get better resolutions due to the better graphic card not being set for AS2.
