Mouse Lag?
Getting a lot of mouse lag.

It gets worse in different menu's, such as when entering the multiplayer lobby.

Any workaround?

Haven't gone into the actual game to see how it is though, just the menu's.

Windows 8?
Run your game with "window" and "customres" params.

Also, you may try using the wine libraries posted in "guides" tab here on steam.

Anyway, try posted solution.

I get the same problem, even with the above launch params. Any other ideas whats causing the framerate hit?

You have to use "wine libraries" Antitheus talked about. Details :

Appropriate for Windows 7?

The experimental OpenGL build may help. Unlike the wine libraries which introduce rendering errors, the OpenGL build works right. It is however experimental and was built on an older version of Original War (So it doesn't support for example all the achievements).

Note: Its still a Work In Progress but the main game works. It doesn't overwrite anything. You will have to manualy launch it, so i would recommend adding it to steam as a non-steam game. Then you can launch it from steam and set launch parameters. By default the OpenGL build will run in a window, you can make it run fullscreen by putting windowfull in the launch options.

New Build:

I have intergrated some of the changes of the recent versions into this build. The OGL Branch is built on either 1.12.8 or 1.12.9 . Notable changes are that it now supports all the steam achievements and it also now supports the language packs.

This build also seperates the framerate from the game speed. So when you lower the speed you do not get a lower frame rate, and visa versa when you increase the game speed. The old method limited the frame rate to the game speed.

None of those solutions helped me so far, I guess they're all for Windows 8 and not 7? :-(

I run windows 7 and have never had any problems with mouse lag. Especialy with the OpenGL build as it doesn't limit the framerate to the game speed (Which can cause lag if the speed is set to the lowest).

That's strange, I just bought OW again, started it in full-screen-mode and got awful lags. With windowed mode it works fine, but it's just a very small window, even if I set startup-properties.. The OpenGL build didn't change anything for me so I thought it would be for Windows 8 only .. Any solutions? :S

Resolution only changes the actual games resolution. Cutscenes and the main menu are fixed resolutions.

Well more information about your machine would be nice such as the graphics card, etc.

In reguards to OpenGL you actualy have to manualy run the OpenGL version(The fullscreen lag issue thats normaly a Windows 8 thing is just a problem with the Direct Draw not OpenGL as OpenGL is always rendered in a Window even when doing fullscreen).
Boogy Dec 8, 2014 @ 5:39am
Yeah I launched the OpenGL version manually but nothing has changed in the menu so far - or will I notice a lag-free version only in the actual game?
Uhm I've got 8GB RAM, an i7 and a GTX 670, do you need anything else?
Stucuk Dec 8, 2014 @ 6:58am
You stated that with Windowed mode that it works fine? OpenGL version is only windowed mode. Is your computer using your NVidia Card or the i7's built in Graphics Chip?

I have a GTX 660.
@Stucuk
I have the best graphics... nVidia Geforce 9500 GTX(500MB0, 55MHz(I am overclocked to higher) :D:
