Why do so many people hate it?
It doesn't seem that bad from what I've seen, but a lot of people I talked to told me it was ♥♥♥♥ compared to EDF 2017.

I don't hate it but it just doesn't feel like an EDF game. It's also very short and has less weapons.
Exactly - less weapons, less horrible but funny voiceacting, less chaos and stupidity. Real EDF games are so bad, they are great. This game doesn't have that horrigreat spirit. But I still like it.

Let's hope that they make EDF 2025 PC port at some time.
2017 was charming as ♥♥♥♥. This one is more modernized, but misses the mark IMO. I liked the weapon gaining system, there were tooooons of weapons. It was always exciting to see the new stats and the new behaviors....so few weapons now.
2025 has a larger scale, bigger maps, more enemy types, MUCH more enemies on the screen at once, enemies are about twice as large, enemies visibly flinch when taking damage, enemies don't disappear the second they die, resulting in huge body piles), more varied missions, more varied environments, more varied and more crazy weapons, a more in-depth unlock system, more weapon types (and no active reload), more vehicle types (around 20 I think, including motorbikes, power suits, choppers and a quad seater giant robot), more voice acting that's more cheesy and charming, more teamwork options, a more distinct soundtrack, and a plotline that manages to be campy as hell, disturbing and inspiring at the same time.
The wing diver (equivalent to the jet armor) can actually fly around the map instead of slowly hovering several stories high before running out of juice, and you actually need to carefully manage the energy use between flight thrust and weapon reloading. Missions are more varied and enemy types and combinations give space for more tactics, for example, you can fly straight into the open hatch of the enemy dropship and then take it out with short range weapons at point blank, or land on the dropship's roof to restore your energy while being out of reach for land enemies.
I'm only at mission 8 in IA, but I doubt it will have boss fights as memorable as the mothership, earth eaters and the brain from 2025. My only complaint with 2025 are huge FPS drops when there's a hundred enemies on the screen, but that game also doesn't have a 30FPS lock.

Hope that answers your question. :)

But 2025 came AFTER Insect Armageddon (also the 30 fps lock is super easy to remove)

Sorry, now everything I said stands completely invalidated. :)

Not really, but comparing a game to its sequel and saying it's not as good is a bit unfair.

If you had any comparison to make, it should be with 2017.
This game is an absolute MASTERPIECE. If anyones looking for players joing our group!

Both games are great, preferably, I would have rather had a lot of 2017 content in IA, like the proper hectors, those vallak creatures and some of the older vehicles, a sh!tload of weapons and the ability to go all out 1000000000000000000000000 HP with your armor. if all were included, this game would be even better
