Tropico 3 Steam Edition - Crash on Start!!

Every time I attempt to start the game it crashes before anything loads and tells me I need a DX9-compatible chipset. I have one! I regularly play CIV5 via DX9, and this is the only game that has issues. Can somebody please help ? I have tried adjusting the resolution like other people have suggested, but still run into the same wall. I would have attempted deleting the appdata folder, but I am a somewhat new PC convert and have no idea where to even look. I looked in my documents folder, and that definitely wasn't it. Also tried to disable visual themes etc in the tropico app compatibility settings, no love.

when you setup the game orginaly and set it up with too high a res the swith moniters you get that error once swith back to orginal moniter works fine

Mine crashes to desktop too but dont get any error messages at all, just drops back and thats it.

Hey,

make sure that your graphic card driver is up to date.
You can also install NetFramework 4,5 and DirectX11.
