Has anyone been able to use Academic etiquette with Van Gross?

I'm playing through for the second time and this time I wanted to do more with the dialogue, so I started with 4 Charisma and 2 etiquettes(Corporate and Academic). When I get to fence gems for the first time, speaking to Van Gross will eventually lead to a part where Charisma and etiquette is an option, but they're greyed out(Charisma because I don't meet the requirement). Was anyone able to get this to work?

If I remember correctly, the correct etiquette will allow you to barter them for a better price. About twice as much.

Charisma worked fine. Never had that etiquette.

Yep, academic etiquette worked for me

To be honest, the only etiquettes you "need" seem to be security and corporate. The other etiquettes are rarely used at all. My first character had charisma 8 and Corp./Sec./Shadow./Academic. Wasn't really worth the Karma.
As far as the main campaign goes, Charisma 4 with the above mentioned etiquettes are all you need.

Worked fine for me (I had Academic etiquette from start) - got x2 the initial offer if I remember. PC version. You can check on the character sheet whether it recorded your choice of etiquettes correctly.

There's a side mission that you need gang to avoid fight and some dialogues in the bar that you use Shadowruner...

You need the socialite etiquette to get 1000 more nuyen (3000) from the secret paydata in the secret executive offices side route through the secret door behind the fridge (needs str 5 to push or lard from janitorial closet + father willy's keycard from chloroforming him or decking 5) It's a list of money orders, etiquette socialite gives you the option to say "brackhaven's not on the list."

This is still glitched even currently. I own these games on Steam. I also liked them so much that when I had the chance to get them on sale for PS4/PS5 I grabbed them. Just an excuse to get comfortable on the couch and go through the trilogy again. I Picked Academic from my character creation (yes I am sure, because I loaded an older save and used enough Karma to upgrade enough to get the next etiquette and Academic is greyed out)

So its a glitch that is even present still in 2022 on the Console Remastered versions. Nice right? Ridiculous.

EDIT: I imagine it WOULD work if I was to have chosen a different Etiquette upon starting the game, and then chose Academic when I got the opportunity to select a SECOND one. But I am not going back to character creation just to see. F That.
