Save / Load issues : Save never happening

I played for a while and it said it auto-saved a few times, but when I was ready to call it a night and exited, both the continue and load are both greyed out and my save is nowhere to be found when I DID have one in the folder.

Having working saves is a huge must for any game and this is a class A bug. :|
