Game won't start in Win 8.1.1 x64 with Radeon HD 5400M

My daughter wanted to have a play this one so I installed in on one PC but it woudn't start. I got the black Steam launch dialog but nothing else. I tried setting compaitibility for the executable and applying admin rights but nothing helped. As far as I'm aware I'm using the latest drivers for the GPU. I assume many are experiencing the same issues.

With most games that are not designed by large budget studios who can afford to build in support for non game supporting platforms it is recommended that you upgrade to a previous version of Windows. One that people actually make games for which they seriously don't for Win 8 because it's more obtuse than designing for a Sony console.

Sony consoles lack any built in driver support and the dev kit is basically just a compiler with hard drive specs.

Microsoft decided to totally redesign a bunch of core operations in Windows for no reason and add an interface that no one likes then they got mad when everyone decided not to buy it for some reason so for a while they were only releasing DX 11 on 8.

Y'all probably acquired your copies of 8 for "free" on pre-built PC's by "free" I mean marked up by 200 dollars for the inclusion of an Operating system out of the box that will have you on every gaming forum wondering why any non triple A game won't run at all.

If it makes you feel any better, myself and everyone else who passed on the downgrade to 8 will be getting a free upgrade to 9 when it comes out as a huge "we're super sorry".
