killing snakes inside pits

Hi, I frequently run across pits with a single snake inside. I dont know how I can enter and kill the snake before getting poisoned. I'm still around level 4, so I dont really have any option to get poision immunity. Is there a better way to deal with this other than jumping in, getting poisoned and using a regen potion?

Are you playing in Singleplayer? You can just quickly attack when the moment you fell of a ledge.

In Singleplayer attacking enemies will stunlocked them for a very short time.

I'm playing in singleplayer with a game controller. usually when I fall into a pit, the snake instantly poisons me before my first strike. Let me give it a shot though, maybe its just me not hitting attack fast enough.

How to kill snakes:

The game will tell you that knives do more damage to humanoids and snakes, do not use it on snakes that is a very very bad idea.

Do not use bows to kill snakes, it takes about 5 arrows.

Keep a SPEAR on your person to deal with snakes, the spear is probably a good choice to level up honestly, that and bows, it does less damage but you take less because of distance.
