UnEpic 1.47 - Patch Notes

MAIN PATCH NOTES

This patch is the largest so far in UnEpic since it’s release. New melee combat, multiplayer content additions and massive architecture modules are added. See below for the complete patch notes.

Notable New Features
  • After feedback from the community and reviews, the Melee Weapon Skill system that exists currently in multiplayer has been completely remodeled and being implemented in the single player to encourage a more enjoyable combat experience.
    • In Multiplayer, the “Weapon Kill” inventory item system has been scrapped
    • A new “Kill Points” meter has been implemented into the UI; when you kill creatures it fills up rapidly, fueling weapon abilities.
    • Weapon Masteries have been remade to have unique benefits to each weapon. The benefits of a weapon are still only applied when that weapon is equipped.
    • Sword Storm, Microexplosive Arrows, Stunning Hit have been removed from the game
    • 16 new weapons skills have been added, bringing the total weapon skills in-game up to 38
    • All existing weapon skills have had a balance pass and many skills have had their existing effects adjusted or completely changed.
    • All icons for abilities have been updated
  • The current seven “UnEpic Official” Multiplayer maps have had a first balance pass
    • Implemented many new features that have been created for architects over the past few months such as volitile scrolls and potions.
    • Expect further balance adjustments as we gather feedback.
  • A new “help” system has been implemented. Tutorial points show a glowing question mark that you can walk over. When display a helpful relevant tip and it is archived in a new options menu “Help” so you can review helpful hints you’ve previously encountered.
  • In Multiplayer, you may now choose your loot type, to allow the multiple drop items to be randomized or the same if you wish.
  • Architects can now customize all creatures in their maps, from assigning their hitpoints to changing their lovely face.
  • Architects now can create their own bosses, implement their own images into the editor and can edit their own AI.
  • UI scaling now implemented in the Options > Video menu that allows you to change the size of the interface.

Additions and Adjustments
  • General
    • Magic Essences now have a new drop animation
    • Graphics for mage staves of different levels have been updated
    • Now you must type "For the watch" to delete a character, so it can't be deleted by accident and people can mourn the passing of a favorite character.
    • All axes are now 10% slower to balance new abilities and their overpowered nature vs mace/swords in comparison. More adjustments may come on this after observing results.
    • Weapon Skills have been recreated:
      • Dagger
        • Throwing Knife:
          • No changes
          • Level 4, 1 Kill Point
          • Throws weapon. Does x4 damage if backstabbing humanoids/snakes
        • Puff of Smoke:
          • Recreated Ability
          • Level 6, 1 Kill Point
          • Gives 5 seconds of invisibility
        • Cut purse:
          • New Ability (Multiplayer Only)
          • Level 8, 2 Kill Points
          • Dashes forward shortly allow creatures to drop more gold
        • Bomb:
          • New Ability
          • Level 10, 1 Kill Point
          • Creates a bomb that explodes upon contact or damage
        • Web Trap:
          • New Ability
          • Level 12, 1 Kill Point
          • Creates a trap that ensnares characters
        • Dagger Mastery:
          • Adjusted Ability
          • Level 2/8/14, 2 Kill Points
          • Increases damage and movement speed per stack
      • Swords
        • Lunge:
          • New Ability
          • Level 4, 1 Kill Point
          • Dashes to first creature and slashes twice
        • Critical Strike:
          • New Ability
          • Level 6, 1 Kill Point
          • Next 3 hits are critical strikes
        • Wind Cut:
          • Adjusted Ability, Increased Level Requirement
          • Level 10, 1 Kill Point
          • Every attack does an additional wave attack for weapon damage
        • Parry Wall:
          • New Ability
          • Level 12, 2 Kill Points
          • For a short time you parry all melee attacks
        • Sword Mastery
          • Adjusted Ability
          • Level 2/8/14, 2 Kill Points
          • Increases damage and critical strike
      • Maces
        • Charge:
          • New Ability
          • Level 4, 1 Kill Point
          • Dashes to first creature, attacks and stuns them
        • Wrath:
          • New Ability
          • Level 6, 2 Kill Points
          • Throw your hammer to damage a creature and stun all others nearby
        • Tremor:
          • Adjusted Ability
          • Level 10, 2 Kill Point
          • Now usable on all terrain, stuns, scales on weapon damage [2 Kill Point]
        • Justice:
          • New Ability
          • Level 12, 2 Kill Points
          • For a short time, you deal the damage you take from incoming melee attacks back at the attacker
        • Mace Mastery
          • Adjusted Ability
          • Level 2/8/14, 2 Kill Points
          • Increases damage and further increased damage to stunned targets
      • Axes
        • Enrage:
          • New Ability:
          • Level 4, 2 Kill Points
          • Increases damage for a short time while reducing attack speed
        • Ghost Axe:
          • Adjusted ability, Higher Level Requirement
          • Level 8, 2 Kill Point
          • Throws an Axe that deals damage to all creatures it passes through
        • Battle Cry:
          • New Ability
          • Level 10, 2 Kill Points
          • Shouts loudly to increase attack speed of allies and self
        • Axe-ecution:
          • Adjusted Ability, Renamed from “Axe Execution”
          • Level 14, 2 Kill Points
          • (MP) Deals damage to a creature equal to 50% of it’s current hit points
          • (SP) Kills Small/Medium creature in one hit
        • Axe Mastery:
          • Adjusted Ability
          • Level 2/8/14, 2 Kill Points
          • Increases damage per stack greater than other weapons
      • Polearms
        • Javelin:
          • New Ability
          • Level 4, 1 Kill Point
          • Throws two javelins each dealing weapon damage
        • Breakthrough:
          • Adjusted and renamed from “Fast Charge”
          • Level 8, 1 Kill Point
          • Now scales on weapon damage, slows all targets you dash through
        • Move out:
          • New Ability
          • Level 12, 2 Kill Points
          • Shouts loudly to increase movement speed of allies/self
        • Extraordinary Scope:
          • Adjusted
          • Level 16, 3 Kill Points
          • Now removed on death instead of permanent after casting
        • Polearm Mastery:
          • Adjusted
          • Level 2/6/14, 2 Kill Points
          • Increases damage and number of targets hit [2 Kill Point]
      • Bows
        • Poisoned Arrows:
          • New Ability
          • Level 4, 1 Kill Point
          • Your next batch of arrows apply poison damage
        • Spirit Arrows:
          • New Ability
          • Level 6, 2 Kill Point
          • Your next few arrows pierce and are specialized against undead
        • Split Shot:
          • New Ability
          • Level 10, 2 Kill Points
          • For a short time, your arrows split upon contact, each dealing reduced damage to targets beyond the first
        • Triple Shot:
          • Adjusted Ability, Level requirement increased
          • Level 12, 2 Kill Points
          • For a short time, You shoot 3 arrows per shot.
        • Bow Mastery
          • Adjusted Ability
          • Level 2/8/14
          • Increases damage and weapon attack speed
  • Single Player
    • 38 new melee weapon skills specialized for each of the weapons are now available in single player. An inhabitant named Ubuntu sells them in various parts of the castle. (See details above)

  • Multiplayer
    • Four New Maps have been added to the
      • "Escape from the Orcish Unfort", created by MarcusXDeadly.
      • "The Royal Tomb Al Sheder", created by MarcusXDeadly.
      • "Midnight Wetwork", created by MarcusXDeadly.
      • "The Key Master", created by MekaGem.
    • Weapons Skills have been revamped(see new features above)
    • Hosts of a group now have an option to change loot to “Random” or “Same for all” options. This determines if a green or higher quality item drops in the map, does everyone see a unique item for themselves, or do they see the same item for everyone. We are seeking feedback in the forums about which method is preferred.
    • Repeat last dialog option added into Options > Gameplay to allow people to reread the last dialog encountered
    • The following levels can now be completed alone: Night of Tryfids, The Count of Monte Orc
    • Werewolves in Twilight now transmits lycanthropy instead of poison
    • Master Jailer sub-boss added to The Count of Monte Orc
    • One of the three sub-bosses in Sherwood Graveyard has been adjusted
    • All of the skeletons on one path in Sherwood Graveyard has been changed to creatures with a weakness to blades
    • Level of Divine Fury changed from 8 to 10 (Multiplayer spell version only)
    • New characters now start with a mace in addition to the sword
    • New characters have the sword, mace and halo assigned to hotkeys by default
  • Architecture
    • General
      • You can now customize the boss music played on a map in the ESC menu when editing a map.
      • You may now spawn items directly in the map to be set in there by entering the item ID
    • New Items are in the Hero’s Home:
      • Invoker (Tool)
      • Boss (Creature)
      • Bat (Creature)
      • Vampire Bat (Creature)
      • Shack Door (Tool)
      • Prison Door (Tool)
      • Night Ambient Light (Tool)

    • New Creature Editor has been created!
      • You may now customize attributes of creatures (Such as HP, Damage, spells, spawning creatures, etc)
      • You can customize the loot dropped by creatures
      • You can now customize the creature’s resistances
      • You can now customize the appearance of your creatures
    • New Boss AI Editor has been created!
      • You can create a boss encounter now
      • You can adjust the AI for the Boss on a step by step process
      • Additionally, you can import art
    • Map Reports are now available
      • A report for a map will be created in the same folder the map is saved.
      • This report includes details such as gold estimates per run or level estimates per run.
      • This should prove valuable to determine how balancing maps can be performed.

Fixes and Feedback
  • Bug Fixes
    • Fixed strange visual bug when heat aura is used near a creature that was fire immune (such as the fire slug)
    • Stun no longer ignores mind immunity
    • Goblins now remember to call their mothers on Mother’s Day 2% more often.
    • Multiple crash issues have been resolved
  • Seeking Feedback in Forums:
    • Obviously any bugs that are experienced are appreciated to be reported
    • The new weapon skills are currently being reviewed and watched closely. Please tell us your opinions in the forums
    • Axes being reduced by 10% attack speed is potentially too small of a nerf. We’re observing this for sake of balance.
    • The new loot system that can be selected by hosts in multiplayer games is something we’d like feedback on preference. We are open to changing the “default” option.
    • Architects using the new editor are encouraged to provide feedback. We have another large module coming out soon and we’re watching for your comments in particular.

Find a bug in second mission in co-op "search for magic" , after killing the eye hiding in some sort of sewer, nothing happen....it should reveal the path on the left.
Kind of frustating :/

This was something in testing we resolved once and it's frustrating to see it come back up! I've passed it along internally to get fixed. Please let us know if other situations don't trigger correctly in the multiplayer levels, specifically regarding checkpoints (Blue circles)

Cuando buscas una partida, en el listado, los mapas "oficiales" aparecen como Arena JcJ, sería interesante que pusiera el nombre igual que los del primer grupo.

Incluso si es un mapa de los propios que lo indicara de alguna manera.

The Count of Monte Orc was soloable before, just needed phase door to prevent the hostage from commiting suicide. I wonder what was changed..

I found a bug in *THe count of monte orc*, i killed all monsters in the pit but nothing happened :\

Can't say that i like the complete removal of the micro-explosive arrows. This marks a massive reduction in damage for bow users. If this skill felt too powerfull it would have been better to transform it from a permanent into a time-limited skill.

Although it has been removed, it has not been deleted. It's just not available now. Most sure we will use it later in higher level or, as you say, with limited duration.
We are listening to players, and waiting for feedback to change/improve the skills.
