Some people have a very hard time getting a prison under control - right now there are no' challenges' beyond playing the game in its alpha state, which for many users has vrying degrees of challenge
need more information than what you are supplying, pictures help too.
Well... When i say there is no challange in this game at all, i think that is plenty of information.
To answer your question simply: There is at this point no hard-coded challenges or challenge maps.

The challenge at this time is either a) building out a concept prison, b) getting a functional medium or large prison, c) getting a prison and keeping it running with a large or diverse mix of prisoner types, so on and so forth.

If you haven't had an issue with a prison, try building bigger/more complicated/more inmates and see how it goes.

I think you're forgetting that there are different difficulties and various ways to setup your prison and different regimes to employ and the ability to use cheats and mods. To simply state that this game is easy without stating the conditions is misleading.
no there is no challenge, seeing as a game of this genre hasn't been released or a while (no decent ones anyway) new inexperienced players seem to struggle but if you know what your doing there is no challenge
There are always challenges, you're just not pushing yourself hard enough.
As it currently stands the challenge is just to find out what works. WIth a large map you can try to see how large you can make a prison while still having it function propertly. Inmates meetings all there needs and pathing to all the areas is well established. But once you figure out exactly how the inmates act then you could try the max security inmates and see if you can do the same with them. But really there isnt much else. Just keep trying different prison designs or just wait till the next update to try new features.
Can you handle 24 prisoners by the morning of the 2nd day?
Fully functioning 100+ inmate prison in 10 days?
How long does it take you to accumulate $200k in the bank?

Plenty of things to challenge yourself with.

I can't manage to handle the third batch of prisoners. I must suck at this game.

just keep at it , more you play the more you will learn. maybe you just need some more guards?
There is Challenge. When I started playing this game I had all of my prions Riot! I went throw 6 prisons! My 7th was the one! There is many ways to Challenge your self. You also need to understand that this is an very, very, very, early Alpha! This game is no where complete! Introversion said this will be in Alpha for a long time!

“Prison Architect is currently in Alpha, which means we haven't finished it yet - it's full of bugs and glitches and you're not going to get a polished experience if you buy it at the moment. What you will get is early access to a bullfrog-style Prison Management Sim that over 30,000 gamers have already thought is worth a look at.

When you buy early access we also guarantee to give you a free copy of the full game once we've finished and you'll also get monthly updates which include new features and bug fixes. But that's not all, you can also pre-order a copy of the PA art book and Soundtrack (like the game, these aren't ready yet, but you'll be the first to get access when they are launched), or buy a pack that includes the whole Introversion back catalogue (we've made some seriously awesome games). Finally, you can immortalise yourself into the game, by naming a prisoner and writing his bio. Everyone that plays PA will see your bio and know that YOU helped to make Prison Architect a reality.

But that's not all, we also want to get your feedback and comments on the game and want you to help us to direct the development process. Tell us what you like and what you don't like and what you want us to work on. We've got a great community of Prison Architect early adopters and we'd love for you to join in - just head over to www.prison-architect.com/register once you've bought the alpha.”
