How are you dealing with electricity?
A single generator with highest amount of capacitors around it only seems to hold my prison while i have 30-40 prisoners, at which point i need to buy a new power station.
Am i making some kind of noobish mistake, or is it required to make another power station for each 30 prisoner i get?

You need to build a new generator and an independent power circuit (no direct connection with your existing generator or electrical wires), when your current generator is maxed out. Most energy is consumed by kitchen and workshop rooms, so you won't need a new generator for every 30 prisoners.

I always separate my prison into 2 partitions:
Entrance area: which is the part where prisoners could meet the outsider world,
which houses workshops, canteen + kitchen, administration, visitor room and sometimes the staffs restroom, (most of the times) Infirmary and Morgue
and
Inner area: Which is where prisoners spend their lives outside of work, with cellblocks/holding cells, showers, common room an dcourtyard and so on, sometimes CCTV-Room

At the beginning verything runs on one generator, but usually later Entrance and Inner Area get separated into 2 electric circuits ... and still later (when the workshops have grown enough ) the circuit of the entrance area gets subdidived as well, with one generator (+Capacitator) powering the workshops and the other powering the rest of the entrance area facilities

Ahh thanks, i guess that my room placement isn't that well optimized when it comes to saving energy!

ive just got one generrato with 16 capacitors and have 97 prisoners lol, not most efficienat but it looks cool

You can have more than 12 capacitors on one generatorr? I thought that the side of the capacitor had to touch a side of the generator?

16 ... the 4 corners of the generator also work

Ohhh didn't expect that to work, thanks a lot!

I have a prison of 30 odd inmates and am still only using 5-6 capacitators... where is all your power going??? I dont have any CCTV yet, so that could be it?

You have to turn each and every capacitor back on when you draw too much power and cause a power failure. The tutorial demonstrates this concept.

Not sure honestly, im assuming the workshop and kitchen takes the most, while powering up prison cells and such comes in second

Are you using objects that require a high amount of power? Because you probably aren't using a lot of metal detectors, laundry machines, workshops, cctv's, etc.
I know that almost all the objects require .2 bars of power. So you can only have 5 per capacitor. But I couldn't tell you without seeing your prison.
Having a workshop with 20 people fully manned would require 4 capacitors by itself.

If your capacitors are blinking then they aren't turned on. It's possible for capaictors to turns off so check that hasn't happened.

12 caps max per generator
|KoR| Metroidude 12. feb. 2014 kl. 12.42
No, it's 16 max capacitors per generator. With a total of 17 bars of power.
You can use the 4 in each of the corners. It takes up a total space of a 5x5
