you have to play around with it to fit your prison and your playstyle.

one thing i figured out is sleep time is a wasteless thing. i use freetime and if they have to sleep. then they sleep. if they dont have to sleep then they run around and do whatever. This helps alot of things. like freedom. recreation. exercise. and whatever else they have.

Be curious to hear suggestions on figuring out eat times, right now the only time my prisoners try to bash each others heads in is the morning because they need a shower and to eat, been trying to fiddle with it but can't quite seem to get it right at the moment.

I just have work the whole time and use armed guards, if I need more armed guards I can get them with the money from working.

11-13 and 21-23 in my case ...
and he first thing they get to do in the morning is 1 hour of shower followed by 1 hour of freetime (this way they can get their first needs fulfilled before the work shift hat goes till their eating time).
After the last meal my prisoners have one hour of free time (which most use to go to bed) and then official sleeping time (I wouldn´t want to miss official sleeping times where all prisoners are locked in their cells ... I love it to play the Shakedown-Game every couple of days, during the first half of the sleeping hours.
It is more fun if the prisoners are all in their cells for this purpose ... my guards like it more this way and the prisoners cannot run around and hide contraband (which they surely could if it were just Free Time)

Don't use free time right after sleep... or some of your inmates will over sleep free time and not take care of their needs.

I remember doing that and my inmates would tear up the place because they crying about not getting to take showers. Their butts didn't shower when I gave them all the free time in the morning too!

Yep, that is exactly why I have the shower hour dirctly before the free time ... this way the prisoners are forced to get out of the bed.
I also once did experiments with Yard Time before free time ... but this experiment was shortlived ... the prisoners would get rather pissed off during this hour, due to not being able to satisfy their hygiene needs

ok ive been fiddling with it. i give my prisoners dedicated eating times. and shower tim es. and other then that its all just free time and the work time. and it works perfectly they only time i get people pissed off at me is when i get an influx of new prisoners they get pissed off becuase its like literallly right after eating time and when they go to work that the prisoners come inso often they go straight from the trucks into the workshop. so i might change some things around

Does anyone know how the visitation works. Do prisoners need to be on freetime to be able to go to the visitation room or will they be allowed to go in worktime if there is someone waiting for them?

Prisoners will go to visitation regardless of the regime, unless they happen to be on lockdown or solitary. hilariously, i've seen a prisoner rushing to their visitation, only to get nabbed by the dog i posted at the entrance to catch people smuggling stuff in. Apparently he was trying to smuggle some cigs out of the prison? His family was waiting for him and saw the whole thing....too bad for him, he got placed on lockdown right infront of them and got to miss his kissy time with his wife. They just won't learn to behave.

seriously tho visitation for me is busted itll be free time and sometimes they go but if its work time or eatime nope

Make sure they can get to the visitation room, i.e. no staff only areas on the way, and the visitation room itself is not set to staff only, or to a specific prisoner level that woul exclude your prisoner from acessing it. They should have a clear path to the room. Aside from that, was this particular prison created before the update?

Another good idea is to have your work hours right before you eat... that way your inmates can be useful in the kitchen. Cooks start to cook 4 hours before meal times.
