Lost Save Games Issue

So it seems that this is a known problem, from doing a search, but I fail to see any follow up or solutions for it. I played this game on two occasions, saved in several different slots, and when I started the game again they were there and worked fine.

But today I start the game and there are no save games at all and I have to start over at the beginning. I've looked through all the locations where I would expect save games to be on my computer and can't find any. Where are the files supposed to be?

And if this is a Steam Cloud issue as stated previously, what does that mean? Are my games still out there somewhere and I just need to connect somehow to find them? Or can I somehow disconnect my game from the Cloud to make it store my games on my machine so I can access them?

Ok, I have solved my own problem. So, anyone who has this same issue, here we go:

Go to X:\Program Files\Steam\userdata\UserID\20920\Remote and see if there are any savegame files there. All my saves were there, with the .kng suffix. Copy these files into the empty folder under X:\Users\username\Documents\The Raven\savegames

And voila! You're back in business.

Does not work for me... I do not have the folder 20920 - what the ♥♥♥♥ is going on... we have February 2015 the ♥♥♥♥

This solution does not work for me either. Copying the save games to the other folder (with Steam cloud syncing disabled) does nothing, as the "load" option in the main menu is greyed out. With Steam cloud syncing enabled, the game is unable to save further progress, making this a pointless workaround.

THIS WORKED. I tried the workarounds posted here with no success. I finally uninstalled the game by right clicking on The Raven in my library and selecting Delete Local Content (after copying the savegame folder to another location as backup.) Next I downloaded/reinstalled the game from my library. It brought up my menu with the LOAD option working and my games intact, without having to restore the savegame backup. I would copy the folder just in case.
