They do remember it actually. They added cosmetics to FF 14 ARR that were part of Rush and Irina's character designs. Hiroshi Takai also said he's willing to work on a sequel or more Last Remnant games if Square Enix gives him the green light.

Also I find it kinda funny how they added a certain place in Azys Lla's lower right corner called "Last Remnant" (FF XIV).
