How so? The updates have shown the combat progress from the view of those working on it daily and the feedback has been mostly positive in regards to the recent Steam Announcements :)
Are you trolling or just delusional?
Nope. :)
For example - The Art Progress Update received 28 upvotes to 3 downvotes and numerous comments of praise. And out of the 12 comments posted - 8 we're positive.
We took a week out last week. Expect another Progress Update soon :)
WOW! I'm not sure if you're trying to insult our intelligence or you're really that clueless.
Are you really basing the acceptance rate on ~30 votes and a few comments on the ART article, which is on the announcements page? "Combat will stay true to the established aesthetics of the game." Great. But it doesn't address any of the problems..
There are probably more active people on the proboards than there are votes on these articles. 280.000 people own this game on steam and there are less than 100 daily players (steamcharts, steamspy). So good job on getting a positive score in a sample size that consists of 0,01% of the entire population.
A lot of people don't even bother voting (myself included) and others might up vote anything (plenty examples on any facebook profile/page). Some people have mixed opinions but leave a positive vote (see your reviews page).
But ok, let's play your game:
"We’re on holiday! 22cans shuts up shop for Xmas" 20 up votes
Context: Nothing has been happening for months and 22Cans decided to take a break.
"Bye fabs!" 18 up votes
Context: The most capable programmer on the team left.
"The Eggquinox has arrived!" 25 up votes
Context: The only actual ingame update for months consists of a reapplied skin pack ported from mobile.
Jack leaves 20 up votes
Pavle leaves 17 upvotes
We don't see the number of down votes, but based on the total number of people voting and leaving comments on the announcements pages (provided by you), it should be a net positive as well, right?
And the 8 positive comments? "8 people said something nice, we're on the right track guys."
"Hundreds of detailed posts about what people don't like and why, lets ignore that entirely." Have we been posting in the wrong place? Are you only taking seriously comments on the announcements pages?
All you have proven is that you managed to make a facebook game which some people actually enjoy. Heck, there was a time when farmvile was the most popular game on facebook and it still might be.
Maybe we should take a look at a more reliable metric. The review page. 65% of people say that this isn't even remotely close to what they paid for and your latest 2 articles showed that there's no real intention of changing that. The currently described combat implementation is nothing more than a minigame. Or are you now selling Godus as an RTS and the zen part is the minigame? What ever it may be, 65% of people got screwed over, so the 35% can get a mobile title they'll enjoy for less than 24h.
Yet you still claim that something that's only going to solidify the mobile nature of Godus was received in a positive light?
Did you hear this 22cans??? This is critique. Do something with it.
Oh wait... nope.avi
I didn't even vote on those announcements. In fact, I ignore them for most part.
Mainly because I don't feel like your customer. I feel like a victim of a fraud, just like I am.
In my country, most of you wouldn't even be a part of 22Cans because all of 22Cans would be already in jail for fraud conducted by a group of criminals.
And the only reason you're not being sued right now is because a lawsuit directed to a company in another country would cost me much more than 30 pounds you've already swindled from me and I don't have such luxury.
I think they need time to come up with a witty comeback.
You took a week out?
Does that mean what I think it means?
Oh Godus..
First of all, when you reply to something I have written, please do me the courtesy of including what you're replying to, in your quote. That way you can't take it out of context and make up a reply that makes 22Cans sound good. You're not Jeremy Kyle and I'm not Russell Brand, so picking and choosing what you like, to give favorable/unfavorable context, isn't something to which we really need to stoop here, is it?
I have done you the favor of including both the paragraphs you were replying to, so that I can both point out the discrepancy in your argument and so that others can see what it is you're trying to do, by miss-quoting and replying out of context. Also, I think it's worth pointing out, that your tenure thus far, has been massively trite and condescending, considering your audience, which I may have to remind you, is mainly made up of people over 30, from the IT industry and are therefore, probably a good deal smarter than yourself, so you may want to act accordingly and not talk so much rubbish, because it won't fly here, I can assure you.
Now, to take you to task about both your reply to me and the below reply to Totally Tim.
Firstly, I talked about the reaction "from long-time community members," which has been terrible. That's just a fact. None of the supposed fans who commented positively to the recent updates, have ever been part of the long-time community, on these or the pro boards, in the past 20+ months.
The reaction from the people who are here, on a regular basis, has been bad, because so little has been done this year and what has been done, has been amateurish at best and even that's being kind. You may have heard that the Universim, ridiculed the Godus story mode, when they released their pre-alpha/proof of concept, by putting a little clickable story around the map..... And it was both better written, more engaging, funnier and more intriguing, coming from a staff of none-native English speakers, making a sly joke, than it was by someone who took weeks to write, supposedly with the aid of a professional writer.
Now we hear that combat, which existed two years ago, as a mini-game, can't be part of the main game, because 'err, too many icons on screen and we don't really know what a game designer might do to fix such an insurmountable problem.' So apparently that's going to be a mini-game again.... Just like nobody asked for.
So essentially, since the release of the story, the "team" has managed to model and animate a few archers and put together a weird formation mechanic, which seems to not belong in the game, whatsoever. So yeah..... Not a good year, so far, regardless of how low your standards are.
Neeeeext!
You may want to not point out, how appallingly scraped together, your up-votes are. Drawing attention to the fact that every single one of the updates on the combat, has received exactly 28 up-votes, looks extremely dodgy, as does the fact that suddenly, out of nowhere, all these people who have never commented on the game before, have this collective urge to voice boisterous encouragement.
Not really a bragging point considering the highest was 32 upvotes over a year ago :P
Also we're???? - 8 we are positive, canhazsenzplz, or is that the reason for the upsurge in upvoting 22cans ( hence the we are ) are positive the alias accounts are upvoting correctly?
