Awwww BOOOHOOOOOO!
Forgive me (or don't, see if I care) for not sharing your pessimism but I enjoyed the first act and have no reason to doubt the second act will match the first and exceed it in many ways.
The messes other teams made of other games have very little to do with this, to my mind.
Double Fine released the Grim Fandango Remaster to great critical acclaim. There were some bugs, but nothing Earth-shattering or game-ruining, and many issues were quickly patched by the team. How's that for "could care less"?
Broken Age meanwhile was delayed specifically because Double Fine didn't want to deliver a lackluster or unfinished adventure game. Again, I'm not sure how that equates to "care less about how badly they screw consumers over" unless your idea of being "screwed over" is having to wait a little longer so what you ordered comes correct.
Honestly, the whining about Double Fine is baffling to me. It seems everyone is indulging their millennialist entitlement and ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ about everything not going EXACTLY according to the original plan. Guess what? Creative process is a delicate thing, and even though the plan has deviated from its origins, the end result will be the same – a hot new adventure game for you and your friends to complain about.
Have you looked at the forum here for that game? It's almost entirely bug reports, most of which have never seen a single response from any developer. That's not to say it isn't a good game, it's great if you can get through it. There's just a serious lack of interest in fixing ongoing game-breaking problems that's rather disappointing.
A little longer? It was originally supposed to be one single game, and then it was supposed to be finished in May of last year, and then it was promised to be done by the end of 2014, and now we just have some vague "spring" release, with hopefully something more concrete being announced soon. I think having to wait over three years for an average size adventure game is a little ridiculous when other indie studios of similar size are putting out more games during that same period on far smaller budgets.
I'm still hopeful that it will actually wrap up to be a good game. I thought the first part was good, but not great. It was far too simplistic for my taste and really the only thing I could keep thinking was "Where's the three million dollar game here?"
I personally had an issue with the game and I told DF right away. They answered me less than 12 hours later and told me that they were working on it. I realize later that I had this issue because my computer didn't meet the minimum requirements (so it was basically my fault). Nevertheless, DF worked on a patch which came out less than a day later just to let people like me play the game. Now, the game is working perfectly.
So sorry my friend but what you're saying is just not true... At all.
Specifically what did I say that isn't true? I can easily link you to half a dozen threads on the first page of the Grim Fandango forum that have gone unsupported and unanswered. I'm well aware of the patch they released, but my point is that there are still a lot of people posting on that forum looking for help and not getting any. It's quite a straightforward statement and just because you got an email back doesn't prove anything I said false. I never said they weren't supporting the game "at all" just that they rather quickly stopped providing active support. They have virtually no presence on that forum and seem to no longer have any interest in whether the game receives ongoing support or not.
I think Broken Age Act 1 was amazing, too. That means...OMG I'm also a sock puppet and I didn't even know it!
Why do you keep outing yourself as a confirmed sock puppet, Robby? We all know you are, but I don't understand why you randomly quote reasonable, logical posts that make sense, purely to announce to us that you are, as we all suspected, a confirmed sock puppet?
