Saved game will not load

When I try to load my saved game I get an message saying that the game could not load. It is quite frustrating since I have used many hours to play. Any suggestions how I can restore my game?

What happened the last time you saved your save game - was it interrupted in any way? Did you shut down immediately after saving? Please be as clear and detailed as possible.
How many leagues were you running in your save with what sized db?
Do you know which leagues they were?
Have you used the add/remove function at all?
Have you used the Editor/Advanced Editor or In-game Editor? If so what changes have you made?
Have you got any backup save games? If so do these still load?
Do you have any kind of anti-virus installed? If so, what type?

Nothing special happened. I just saved and exited the game.
I did not shut down my computer and have not done for several days.
The saved game I can't load was a FMC game with Norway and England. All playable leauges available.
I am not sure what u mean by add/remove function?
Yesterday I started a new FM game using editor data and in-game editor. I made several changes to my local club and some stadiums. I also made a new rule allowing me to play and manage a team in Norwegian 3rd division.
This new FM game did auto save several times, and I saved it manually when i quit the game.
A little bit later I opened my old FMC game and played for a couple of hours.
I have a backup of the game from last week, and this will load perfectly. But the problem is that I have played several hours since the backup was saved.
I use Norton 360.

i am having the same problems, i go to load a game and the data just dissapears, 2 games have been deleted now its a joke

Are the save games not in the following location:

Documents -> Sports Interactive -> Football Manger -> games?

Norton does occasionally have issues with FM. May be worth trying to see if you can restore an older version:

Try going into your 'My Documents', within there should be a Sports Interactive Folder. Go into the Football Manager 2014 folder.

Go into 'games' and right click on your save which no longer loads. In the menu that opens is an option called 'Restore Previous Versions', click that and see if it works. It'll first scan for a previous version then potentially give you the option to 'Restore'.

To make sure you don't have an issue like this again, I'd also recommend going into your in-game preferences when you load up FM and turn on 'New File for Every Save' option under the auto saves. I'd also suggest turning it on onto weekly or fortnightly so you always have a recent back up.

I managed to restore an older version of my saved file. But that version is from last week. And this loads fine. But after that version was made I have played several months that will bo lost. Is this lost forever?

Can I make som changes in my Norton program?

I'm afraid that save is lost. As said above I'd suggest turning on auto save. I'd also suggest looking into adding FM and Steam to your Norton exceptions.

I have been having similar problems... Another one you of developers told me the same thing (go to the game and hit 'Restore Previous Versions'. but i got into my folder and right click it and i have no such button... I am running windows 8 i dont know if that has anything to do with it but is there any alternative way to restore?

yes i Had the files but not restore option either, the way forward according to the site is to go to your game prefernces and set a auto save feature under a new save each time so you have back up but its ridiculous. I still have problmems where a error screen comes up regarding a ticket then kind of clicks my game into safe mode or wont load up.

xml error screen recarding a ticket 1, plenty of posts about it on here so clearly a common problem. Started 4 games now and its happened again, just a waste of £30, why is data been deleted and even when following info on si site of how to get rid of these error screens they do not work
