Update notes for 0.1.21

It is already Wednesday again, my froggy friends!

This week went by so quickly! And I wish I could say we have been working on updating the graphics, but sometimes other things come in the way (like attending events, enjoying the weather and working on the weekly update). I hope to get back to drawing a mockup and figuring out new graphics and new environments really soon!

But let's focus on this week instead, in this update we are adding a counter that appears after starting a chapter that says that you need to reach a goal to unlock the next chapter in that storyline. For now it is only present in a few storylines where the goal is to either eat a specific amount of bounties or to gather friends.

Along with adding this counter we also updated the description and added a goal to some chapters. As we continue on the big task of updating the descriptions of chapters (it has been ongoing since we updated the chapter selection screen that gave more space to display info about chapters) we might add goals to some chapters and add new kinds of goals that can be tracked while playing. If you have any ideas or suggestions for more ways to use this goal tracker, please let us know!

Changes:

Added a counter for chapters with a goal that is known to the player
Updated descriptions and goals for the chapters in Ghost's storyline
Added more variety of bugs in the chapters in Ghost's storyline
Moved friends closer to the starting spot in the chapters in Ghost's storyline
Updated the goal in chapter 3 of Stanley's storyline
Updated the description of the chapter "First hops"

Bug fixes:

Fixed the plants and the friends that was sometimes rendering under ponds

how to max the freeze tongue?

So just finished another run with the freeze tongue leveled at 10 and still no max...what am I missing? This will be about the third time I finished the run like this and still can't nix it.

Really Rough Start

There's gotta be something you can do about enemy health scaling so harshly at the start of the game, before you've gotten a bunch of shop bonuses. It feels like most runs are genuinely unwinnable at the moment.

Loving this game!

Love this game, love this genre, love frogs. The game's really fun already, can't wait for more content. If I have any gripe it's hard to understand the quest system, though I see EVERYTHING is being on worked. Good luck with the game, it's quite good already....

Update notes for 0.1.20

It is that time of the week again - update day, frog day, Wednesday, lets go!

This week we are adding a "quick start" button (on the main menu) and a "try again" button (on the end screen) to the game. Both buttons do the same, if you click it you get right back into the game playing as the same frog, starting with the same chapter and for those who have unlocked it you will be starting with the same difficulty as your last run.

We added this based on a suggestion we got on the Froguelike Discord server[discord.gg]. If you also have suggestions or feedback for us or if you just want to see some frog memes or talk to us, you are very welcome to join! We also try to stay up to date with what's written on the Steam forums, so that's a way to reach us too :)

Update notes for 0.1.19

Good Wednesday all Froggies!

We are still spending most of our time working on updating the environments in the game, it is a difficult task and it is taking quite some time to figure out. We are both working on parts of it and right now I (Johanna) am working on drawing a mockup with different (and new) types of environments and obstacles and Rémi is working on new ways of generating the maps and ways to improve the performance of the game when it comes to things such as physics and colliding with different obstacles and environments.

We did have time to do some small changes as well.
We changed the reward for completing Stanley´s storyline to better fit the story of Stanley wanting to be more like a frog. The change makes it so that if you already finished Stanley's storyline there will be no difference, read the details here - Stanley used to start with 0 revive and swim speed at -50%, he now starts with 8 revives (for a total of 9 lives) and -90% swim speed. The buff rewarded for completing Stanley's storyline used to be +8 revives and is now instead upping the swim speed to -50%.
The chapter "Toad's challenge" that gives the chapter that starts Toad's storyline as a reward now appears as the first chapter in a run instead of the last, this way you don't have to play through a whole run just to be defeated in the last chapter.

Made the chapter "Toad's challenge" appear as the first chapter in a run instead of the last chapter

"I Made A Mistake" not currently beatable

It's not possible. Even with all possible shop buffs, all of the boss bugs taking cheap shots take far, far too much of your health for survival to be even remotely within reach.

Is this tongue worth it at max lvl?

I recently unlocked the cursed tongue and wasnt sure if its good/ better at max lvl? I wasnt sure if it is just cursed in the sense of it always attracts more enemies or if the effect flips or something at max lvl where it attracts and poisons or something. Still early in the game and if its only attracting more enemies then it might not be good to level up for now ...
