The whole world is missing!

I have played this game addictively for the last two months, I have built almost 20 very large cities each specialized amd starting to build large megastructures. Then when I log in tonight evey one of my cities are goine. There are no save files to load and the folders in the Users/appdata area are empty. WTF happened and how do I get the world back?
