Can we do away with crafting wait times, yet? (+poll)
This game has so much content now and there are so many things to grind and farm for. Do we still need wait times on the crafting table?
Edit:
Made a strawpoll to ask people the reason they bought platinum.

Yes, because I want everyone to wait aswell.
Wintermute Mar 16, 2016 @ 4:04pm
IDK. There is something right about actually crafting that gun you gathered parts for. If you plan properly, you will have stuff to do in the meantime anyway. It's subjective, but some moderate waiting feels good.

Now, 4 days long warframe crafts are annoying indeed.

Maybe while waiting for things to craft, you can use that time to "grind and farm".
Netsa Mar 16, 2016 @ 4:05pm
There is nothing right about waiting 12 hours to craft a twin grakata. The crafting times are so completely unrealistic, I can't take them seriously when it comes to "actually crafting" things.

12 hours seems just about right to make a standard firearm IRL, not sure why you're complaining about crafting times being "completely unrealistic".

What are you talking about? IRL, whenever I want to hold two guns I already own, it takes about 12 hours before I can figure out how to hold one in each hand.

That depends on the firearm. More basic weapons should be crafted in less time, by that reasoning. Plus, Warframe is using futuristic technology.

How is waiting 12 hours unrealistic? LOL its a game. Not sure why you're playing when you don't even have patience.

If DE take away crafting times on gear then the use for platinum as a currency drops, and one of two things will happen; either we'll see a jump in the price of plat, or we'll see things start to be sold for cash that aren't community made items (for example Rota syandana right now, that's a cash purchase but a community made item).

There are a few things you can do to get around it though if you really don't want to wait, as the plat costs to rush something are pretty flat-rate. You can farm void and sell parts to cover the plat cost, you can build lots of things at the same time (or stagger them) and level something else while one weapon/frame constructs or you can give DE money for plat directly. It's not like you're forced to wait as much as you can pay to get things NOW if you'd really like. But is there a need NOW, is the real question?

That wouldn't happen. People primarily want platinum as a currency in order to buy and upgrade things, not to skip wait times. I doubt DE is making all that much money off the crafting system, but I guess we would need that data. Assuming that taking away crafting times would burn DE's profits so much that they would increase prices is a rash assumption.

This is an action game, not a patience game. The wait times simply don't need to be there.

Given the whole game is built around grind and construction with the cash currency as an alternative if you don't want to wait then yeah, it probably would have some kind of knock-on effect. You'd effectively be removing or killing off the entire plat based section of the market but for the cosmetics and blueprints at that point, and people do use it, purchases of plat are made for that one purpose. Edit: Not always, but they are.

Let's face it though, if DE were to remove those wait times why would anyone ever pay for plat to obtain an item when they could play for a few hours and build anything in the game barring clan researched items. The Market wouldn't exist, nor would the plat economy because everyone could near instantly craft anything with no fuss but no profit to the devs either.

Unfortunately, those wait times are incentives to purchase and spend platinum and they are here to stay. This game is expensive to maintain and release regular updates for (especially free updates). Someone has to pay for all those man hours and wait times are just a way of incentivizing players to actually support the devs financially. I mean, most people are playing for free and someone's gotta foot the bill, otherwise no one gets to play. The wait times aren't going anywhere and honestly if they did, you'd probably see far less content being released over time.

The grinding and construction is still there, the wait time is just deleted. That's not the same as killing off the entire plat based market because spending platinum still means you skip the farming time required to make that item (and it's catalyst/reactor). Purchases of platinum are not made just for that single purpose. There are tons of things in the store to spend platinum on, and even more things in the bazaar. Much more than just cosmetics.

They would pay for plat to obtain the item because there are a lot of items in this game you can't just walk in and craft in just a few hours. Not without serious luck. The market would still exist, and the plat economy would be just fine. I don't know where you're getting this stuff from.

Okay, seriously. I want to see a poll of the amount of people that bought their platinum specifically to skip the crafting table wait time. Did you? Did H3X?

Edit: Added a strawpoll to the thread post.

Then add options "all of the above" and "becouse I got 75% discount". Last one will probably be most popular

You also forgot the only MUST reason to spend platinum - get more slots and potatoes.
