No xp if i dont do the last hit and im not in range?
is this the way its working or is this going to be fixed? i already did the first part to the city and got no xp

If there are friendly NPCs involved in a fight, the experience system will be changed to award experience to the party based on their participation in the fight, rather than just the last hit getting the experience.

and if im not in range? for e.g. the crabs at the start if i shoot them with my mage from max range i get no xp too

Yep, happened to me as well on occasion, with "friendlies" obviously, but also when nuking stuff from outside their field of vision (without launching turn-based combat). Really takes off the benefit from pumping Sight.

I can confirm that that's in the next patch, which is scheduled to go live this thursday. It's not the 100% be all and end all solution that we want yet, but it's a step in the right direction.

As to xp-stealing by allies - this is why I always KILL THE ALLIES FIRST. Sometimes they even yield more XP than the actual enemy.
