Boasting the Imperial Power Armor (RA Mode) but fall back armor would've been Meteor Auxillary with all 4 upgrades.
Preference Weapon (first blood) was Meteor Khopesh with all 4 upgrades, poison 7, and sharpened 5
Preference Weapon (continual use) was the Dreamweaver. Maybe there are better 1H swords out there (that you can swap in and out of belt bag) but I happen to love this one.
Preference Weapon (range/annoyance) was 1H crossbow with the +12% THC upgrade and the knockback upgrade as well. Yeah, my crossbow training was a measly 3, but you'd be surprised how nifty piercing steel bolts can be often even when blocked by a shield - and, of/c, I poisoned that, too ...
Here's the character stat line:

So far also my only character to get the Terminator trait ;)
How cool is that ? More interesting people to meet and ki ~ um ... 'converse' with ;)
That is wonderful to hear. Though if you are basing a gang on our psychopaths, I am guessing it will be one of the hardest fights in the game!
In light of this, I'll try to submit one combat-centric character. My thrower, as I sense a shortage of people using this particular fighting style.
Admittedly, it might be a little much...with 81% passive chance to ignore armor with blue throwing knives, just spamming light attacks will kill most people rather quickly.
Originally wanted to go for the handspear+block but somehow ended up with dar gut old axe.

And somehow Throwing was made into alchemy. Gotta retry that with throwing+block+handweapon sometimes. Will be terrible fun.
OK, let's assume that they would allow healing DURING combat (which would be utterly stupid). Why wouldn't this skilled guy have a healing salve himself? It would still mean you would be screwed, even more probably unless there would be no limit on how many salves you could use during one fight and you would have tons of it and your opponent only a little. If you want unfair fights just use cheats.
And yes, believe it or not but a skilled cutthroat in rags would make a short work of someone slow in armor and with a sword unless you would be at least close to his ability. But regarding this fight, you can post your save and we will help you, you will see how easy it is for some to win it.
Also, if you want to bring action RPGs to this just as you think that a guy with a dagger should always lose to someone with a sword I say that even an epic hero should always lose to Diablo. But it's a game and certain rules apply. Age of Decadence isn't super realistic but it is the most realistic RPG I know. And it's not unfair because the same rules apply to your opponents and the only advantage you have over them are your wits.
And if you still insist that a guy with a dagger should always lose to a guy with a sword and an armour no matter their skills, that would mean that a dagger build would be impossible. Which would be a huge shame because playing as a freaking cutthroat is one of the most satisfying build in AoD.
There are ways around the hoppy-skippy-dodgy character types - or, rather, through them. Hoppy-skippy doesn't work too well when he's got a net over him. Also doesn't work too well with a bola around the ankles or wrapped around his throat. Certainly doesn't do too well when he's on fire. Or when a concussion grenade knocks him on the ground, and then you pin him in the head with a poisoned hand-crossbow bolt.
Just expand your tactics. It'll put a nice warm fuzzy feeling in your guts ... or theirs ...
Maxed DEX and STR. Spear fighter, mostly 1 handed, but i used a trident in 2 or 3 combats. The off hand normally empty, just to grab and dance with the victims. Some times using a net (2-3 in the full gameplay, didnt needed), sometimes used a shield (to avoid some persistent ranged people) mostly destroyed everything he encountered.
Only "defeated" 4 times, once when i tried too soon against the arena champ, once I got 2 criticals and dropped to the ground against a mob, and twice against @~#€|~#¬ with bolas (Tulius REALLY hates bolas).
In his free time likes to drink some beers with his pal Miltiades. Also likes to craft.
Ended as a centurion on the wastelands... not a bad job for a mass murderer, but a bit risky that demotion from his superiors, someday he might return for vengeance.
Oh man the spear is awesome, nonetheless, my next char will probably be thief + dagger.
Here some proof, for the curious. (MIGHT BE SPOILER, be careful)

The build of course could be easily improved by lowering 2 per and givin it to con. 10 more hp, what a beast. Anyway, i dont think i passed any interesting per check with this guy
I've just finished my smart soldier run and just as I thought, 300 kills without any cheesy tactics is absolutely doable. I ended up with 280 kills[i.imgur.com] but I went the smart way with Antidas (kingmaker) and didn't fight him or his troops and with a pure build I could have gotten more kills in group battles. Still think that the threshold for achievement should be 250 kills.
To be honest I was surprised how powerful I was even though I've started with 8/8/6/6/8/4 character. There was no really challenging fight after Teron. I've defeated (not weakened by canister) Agathoth without any problems, first run with Power Armor using only hasta, second with PA using only liquid fire (and not the strongest one, the one that you get at 8th level of alchemy), and third without Power Armour and using only hasta (no shield). The interruption attack was insane, he practically killed himself (and all he had to do was using his range attacks, although if I went with block build it would be useless).
When I've reached the temple I've had about 170 SP to use as I wanted, with spear, crafting and dodge maxed and alchemy at 2.

I joined 40 thieves, but never put any SP into "core" thief skills except for the Steal, which is needed at 2 to join (everything else you can see on my charsheet is from a trainer). Was a very successful guild member, too - until Ganezzar, where even 10 dex from the power armor couldn't save me because there's also that damn trap, and 35 HP is not enough to survive it... So I had to just drop it and go straight to the Temple. Unfortunately, I also couldn't save Meru to make proper use of my Chosen One status, so I went with the Antidas option.
As for the fighter quests - I won the Arena without letting Al Sahir even touch me once, killed all the challengers including Ganezzar legionaries AND their leader (last fight took A LOT of reloads though, these 2 archers are crazy) and did the whole Miltiades questline except Ganezzar (for some reason he never showed up there - maybe I just forgot the conditions and did something the wrong way in Elias questline). What I absolutely could NOT do is getting the elixir from the monastery, since it requires dealing with a mob of archers who make short work of a no-defenser. :(
BTW, carrying lots of preloaded crossbows and constantly switching them in-combat instead of the slow reload is fun. :D Maybe I should have called that character Da Vinci...
