DOOM II
to anyone who is playing brutal doom using zandronum
okay so i have been playing this game for a while and just recently got back into doom after getting utterly bored with modern shooters like call of duty and such and one thing that i have been noticing is that when i see people playing this on youtube or elswhere i hear the monsters making different noises and different wails when they get hurt or incapacitated. one thing i remember from one of the videos is one of the monsters said "i smell human" and some other stuff. i have seen these videos and im not sure if it was only in a earlier version of brutal doom or im using an outdated source port.

here is what i am using to run brutal doom:
Brutal Doom V19 wad
brutal doom heavy metal wad
Doom 2 wad or Doom wad
nerve wad (not sure what that is but it seems to allow me to play some hidden levels or some stuff.

note: i am using the wads from Doom 3 BFG edition and im not sure if that has affected anything or not.

I think those were only in older versions of Brutal DOOM...I had an older version of Brutal DOOM with these extra sounds in, but in the newest versions, they appear to have been removed. At least, that's what it seems like to me.
There's an addon that adds those extra noises. Also I recommend using the original wads and not the ones from the BFG edition because they have some things censored and the sounds are not as great as the originals (you can notice that using the super shotgun). I also recommend using GZDoom since it's designed to be played in singleplayer and it's better than Zandronum for that. And if you want to play Brutal Doom you can download the Sperglord Edition that's better and has a lot extra addons. (You can play the nerve.wad with the original wads, it's an extra campaign included in the BFG edition).
