DOOM II

DOOM II

How can I access Brutal Doom via Steam?
Brutal Doom is installed, and so is everything else that makes it work (I just spent the past hour playing it). All I need to know is how to play Brutal Doom so that it keeps track of my hours played (So it isn't a non-steam game)

Install gzdoom to steam/steamapps/common/doom2/base. Rename it to dosbox.exe. Run it from that folder when you play brutal doom.

Or add Gzdoom.exe to your steam library as a NON STEAM GAME

next

add a command at the end of the target line in the shortcut properties eg:

-file projecbrutalityfinal.pk3 randomMapSet.wad nicewallblood.pk3

basically -file then any files you want to load up including file extensions... also make sure to include spaces after each new file in the load order

To play online Zandronum is better, right?

Depends what you want. Currently gzdoom / zdoom have more advanced scripting / capabilities, but zandronum has online much better covered.

Really, I use both.

Using Zandronun, if I want more then one mod, how can I proced? I read that I need to put everything that will run (wad. pk3) on the Skins folder. Then I open the .ini file and add Path=filename to each mod that is in the Skins folder. But waht the order?

Right now mine is this (but not working...)

[Doom.AutoExec]
Path=BD_Voxel_Patch.pk3
Path=UDV_Voxel_ArmorBonus_Patch.pk3
Path=zdoom-dhtp-20150723.pk3
Path=brutalv20b.pk3
Path=DoomMetalVol4.wad
Path=smivhud 16-9.wad

And I also intend to use the:

Brutal_Doom_20b_Hell_on_Earth_Starter_Pack

and

A_patch_for_Brutal_Doom_v20b_to_enable_destroyable_corpses_in_multiplayer

I think the Path= lines need "$PROGDIR/" after them, and the addon files should be placed in the same folder as the port. For example, here is part of a config file for GZDoom, with the Brutal DOOM PK3 file *in the same location* as the GZDoom EXE, along with any other mod files to be loaded:

[Global.Autoload]
Path=$PROGDIR/brutalv20b.pk3
Path=$PROGDIR/foo.bar
Path=$PROGDIR/Another_foo.bar

I used some starter pack thing. Put all the files in here, and renamed that "play game.exe" thing to DOOM2.EXE. From steam, using "play with mouse" or whatever is on top, launches the mod. Tracking hours.

C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Doom 2\base

And change doom2 - mouse.bat content to:

.\base\DOOM2.EXE
exit

Works fine here. Can't remember if overlay ingame. And not sure if works with all mods.

i just replaced dosbox.exe with the ZDL launcher so i could use whatever WADs with whatever source ports i wanted and it would track time played
