I 'think' I'm okay with this
Having not played, but think it is okay to have it here on steam. I mean we have that game where you play as a guy's thoughts as he waits for his date(Is called "Dinner Date"), that doesn't seem fun at all, but more like an experience to be had. So why complain about a game that is made to be something different(possibly "new" in a sense)?*
*Note: I will admit, people prefer fun over symbolism, I myself included

I have bought "To the moon"... the review says it is a very deep and emotional experience... I never played it yet because now I'm not in the right mood, but I really appreciate this kind of games.
Nothing wrong in funny games where you kill hell-born monsters with your demonangel power come from your satanic father.
Nothing wrong in interactive art, too. I would like to read about players' experiences (negative one, too), but I see flaming, trolling and other forum idoms I don't know.

Exactly. I don't see why people are hating so much. When they are saying this game is horrible, it almost sounds like they are saying the same message for a lot of other indie games, for being so "artsy" and "emotional". I wouldn't play this, but I am completely fine with it being on Steam.
@santi: ^That
@kas: I recall that game, have yet to play either

I don't like Journey whatsoever, it's overpriced and overhyped, but it's pretty and the co-op component is pretty interesting. However, Tale of Tales has a history of releasing awful non-games that pretend to have been designed under the influence of some profound epiphany when they're really nothing at all. The worst part is the price point and just the overall attitude of the games, they're so self-congratulatory and pretentious right from the start. I have a very hard time believing that enough thought and effort was put into the "game" to warrant a $10 price, even for those diehard defenders of Tale of Tales who, for some reason, think there's something deep to be found in "The Graveyard."

As for whether or not it's appropriate for the developer to even be on Steam, I really think that, if they actually cared about who they were marketing to, they would seek out a different method of distribution. A vast majority of Steam users aren't going to care one bit about this game's existence, and a lot of people who actually might enjoy the game probably don't have Steam. It seems like a huge marketing flaw, they're trying to pick out a few people from the millions who won't even notice the game and hope to make a few quick sales.
You can buy their game on their website since... November, I think. They are here because they are IGF finalist and Valve decided to put every IGF 2013 finalist on Steam because... well, because they are the best (or the most interesting or innovative) indie games of the year, of course.
@Look: Simplicity is in all games. I could pick apart every game I've ever played(having now worked some with modeling and having personal interests in entertainment), and say something negative about them. That is like saying that game with the flower petals flowing through apocalyptic looking city-scapes is not a game(on ps3, can't recall title).

As for prices, it depends. We don't get to see their side of things, they may have a budget they need to balance out, they might have spent a lot and the 10 dollar price will balance out the costs. I'll admit there is a time when the price is too high for a game that has been out for way too long(Dishonored), but a new game isn't up to the buyer to decide the price. 'Maybe' if it is, say, Tetris for 39.98(wtf), or anything along those lines, but 10 dollars is not too much to ask(if 'you' don't want to spend 10 dollars on it, do not. Instead get something else you'd prefer because of your tastes)

Etcetera Etcetera I'm kinda tired on my side, continue with the comments as you please *smiley face*
to the moon is an absolutely fantastic game, this is nothing like it, this is just pretensious
