New Ashes of the Singularity Reinforcements DLC is Available!

If you own the base Ashes game, the DLC has been added to your Steam account

Up your strategic game with the new Substrate Harvester unit and the new PHC Artillery Post building! We've added a little something to each side of the war to open up new strategic possibilities.

Substrate Harvester Unit: This unit can gather resources from any region, regardless of who controls them, allowing you to send covert sneak attacks on enemy regions to snipe metal and radioactives.

PHC Artillery Post: Build a Smarty System and upgrade to the Artillery Post to devastate enemy armies. This long-range turret can be used to bomb enemies from a safe vantage point, taking down portions of an army before it even reaches its destination.

We are pretty close on getting version 1.45 of Ashes of the Singularity completed.

A lot of our focus recently has been on unit AI, path finding and beginning to incorporate some of the things we like from Escalation into the base game that makes sense.

While we've been working hard on our next major release (Escalation), we are still supporting the base game of Ashes. This patch has some general fixes to unit formations and responsiveness to improve your experience.

Please note that previous save games are not compatible with this version.

• Fixed a problem where the Prometheus wasn't firing at T1 Units
  
• Improve army movement through gaps and areas of high traffic, especially for armies with T3s
  
• Shrank the size of the T3's collision area to aid in formations and unit collisions
  
• When following a capture order, ignore enemies that are not in the targeted capture region.
  
• Improves unit responsiveness when the player is giving commands to go somewhere.

We are releasing an update to the game that improves the unit AI and balance, as well as making the tactical unit AI smarter. We've also improved stability. Please read below for details.

Please note that previous save games are not compatible with this version.

• MRM targeting is now the same as the weapon ranges. This may help with unit AI issues
  
• Brute plasma weapon targeting ranges same as its weapon ranges. This may help with unit AI issues.
  
• Fix issue where units could get stuck when the local waypoint finder generates a sub-optimal path.
  
• Ensure that units stay selected when army leader dies when unit is in a control group.
  
• Armies will now form properly around mountains.
  
• Fixed issue with local waypoint search causing erratic movement
  
• Fixed issue where units can pile up if they were built within the search radius of the target location.

• Destructor AI driver updated to make it fire from a distance better

Faster faster faster!

We are so excited for you to see the integration of your suggestions, ideas and feedback into the game.

We'll have the full change log shortly but here are a few highlights:

1. The unit AI continues to improve. This is a big challenge in a game like Ashes because you can't use "formations" in the traditional sense. Your armies are supposed to take care of guarding each other and being smart on their own when you create them. This improvement should be immediately obvious.

2. Balance improvements. This is another area that should be pretty obvious, especially to top players. The Athena's primary weapon no longer targets buildings. It has a secondary weapon that will but it does relatively little damage. The Zeus has gotten tougher and the capital ships a lot tougher but also more logistics intensive.

3. The tactical unit AI, which is a different system, is smarter. This will be most obvious with the Destructor (Substrate) which not only does more damage but is much better about hanging back out of trouble to destroy buildings.

These are just 3 examples of improvements we've done for this month's update.

We are also working on new maps in preparation for Season 3. While most people (>95%) play Ashes of the Singularity as a single player game, the active multiplayer community is having an exciting time with season 2 top 3 players within a handful of points of each other.

We are not ready to declare the end of season 2 yet. We will give a specific timeline shortly.

Season 3's maps will probably be a bit larger than season 2's. Stay tuned.

We've taken some time to fix some UI bugs and close some game exploits, and improve performance. Please read below for details:

• Improved the "game speed" functionality to prevent inconsistent gameplay behaviours in the campaign and skirmishes.
  
• All weapon modules now start with cooldown at 0. This means all weapons will fire immediately after being built.
  
• Players will no longer be able to build any unit by selecting another building and (very quickly) pressing the previous factory's hotkey.
  
• Aircraft no longer stop moving when issued a stop command. This addresses an exploit in which a player spams stop and gets the aircraft to hover over a target.
  
• Fixed a GWG issue that caused flashing lights and white circles to appear around buildings
  
• Optimized shaders to improve performance.
  
• Updated Computronium (resource lines) appearance to blend better with the environment.
