Where can I find some identify scrolls.
Hi all, I am currently at the friendly arm inn, I have some unidentified items but cannot find any scrolls/spells. Is there any way to get some early? Thanks.

You can visit the temple; the gnome priestess can identify items for a small fee.

Is there no other way haha, 100 gold per item is alittle steep for me right now. Are there any characters soon with the ability to unidentify or a shop that sells them?
Well looks like im going to beregost. Seems like it's the closest place to get them from what I have found online.
You know you can have your Mage learn that spell, yeah?

Yea, where is the first mage that can join your party?
Xzar outside Candlekeep, Neera in Beregost, Edwin in Nashkel, Dynaheir in the Gnoll Stronghold...

Early Mages you can find include Xzar (found along the path to the Friendly Arm Inn), Edwin (found in Nashkel on the bridge to the South-East of the map, he will require you to accept a quest from him), Dynaheir (imprisioned in the Gnoll Stronghold, is part of an NPC pair with Minsc) and it is also possible to dual-class Imoen into a Thief/Mage (you must level her up at least once as a thief to do this).

Even with a mage, most of them will require a scroll to learn Identify (can be bought from High Hedge) and of those listed above Edwin cannot learn Identify (due to his Conjourer class/kit).
thief with high lore should be able to identify as well.
inside some of the stores (inns, temples, shop keepers ...etc ) there are icons for resting and stealing and a ? icon for paying that individual to ID an item for you for $100. about the same or the same as a scroll.
You can buy a few at the High Hedge where the wizard with the flesh golem guards is. Just be nice to the guy and you'll get the option to buy some from him. You'll find a lot more later in the game too, as well as a lot more in the TotSC xpac areas.
Overall, Identify and Knock scrolls will be crazy useful throughout the game, especially if you choose to dual-class Imoen.

Also if you do choose to dual-class Imoen, I'd suggest having knock spells for both her and Dynheir, and a find traps spell in Jaheira's. Then just send in your beefiest (mines my MC Cavalier Paladin for example) and just set off the traps. You really won't miss out on that much experience overall, especially because you can save a lot of the locked chests, doors, etc for later when Imoen is high enough level to gain her theif abilities back.
You can also get them as a random loot while fighting kobolds, gibberlings etc. on your way.
I've never looked for an identify scroll, I mean 1.) I know what an item is without identifying it and 2.) most mages have it learned at level 1 anyways.

yeah you could grab neera or garrick in beregost. you could hunt anklegs up north of the friendly arm in, and bring the shells down to beregost to sell for 500 gold each, thats 5 identifys. money isn't an issue if you do that.

I mean I would do that run to the temple and use their expensive heals and still make a gain in money.
