Completing baldur's gate before tales of the sword coast

hey i was wondering if its ok to complete the final vanilla mission before starting the expansion quests? or will it just be game over

complete sections of the tales of the sword coast before you take on sarevok the end boss of the game.

Doing Shandalar's TOSC quest to fetch his cloak from the wizard-infested island early will somehow cause the Thieves Guild quest in Baldur's Gate (stealing the pieces for the flying ship)
to abort. You can still loot the place, but are not tasked to do so.
