Armor class?
Could someone please explain how this works. From what I have been told, the lower your armor class the better defended your character. Is this true or is it some other way?

Yes, the lower the better. A high dexterity, armor, certain magical items, and a few spells contribute to AC.
Sweet, thank you, one last question if I may?

So, how do I raise my stats? I noticed as I went along and leveled up my str dex ext were not increasing?

I am really new to this dungeons and dragons type of stuff I know nothing
You have to find special books to raise it permanently, or drink potions, like a Potion of Frost Giant Strength to raise it temporarily.

And no worries. Happy to answer any questions you may have.

Sweet, thank you. I just wish the game explained all this. The tutorial was nice enough to explain how magic works but not much else.

Also how many party members can I have max?

I hate that I run into people I might like but I want to keep who I have, for instance I came across a guy wanting helping killing wyverns or something but I couldn't take him into my party because I was full

6, also some people turn on you if your alignment is off or they have built in betrayal story lines.
Alright good to know. I have 6 now, to bad I can't have more, would have been nice
One more thing if you could please. what in the world is THACO and what does it mean and do
Thac0 - To hit Armour Class 0
It's basicly the opposite of AC, it is used in your to-hit rolls in combat.

Example, Enemy has AC 0, you have a Thac0 of 20, this means you won't hit your target unless you roll a natural 20 (crit).
Alright thank you. so if I understand that correctly, the higher my to thaco roll the higher the chance I will hit?
You want your thaco to be low, and you want the d20 roll to be high. If your thaco was 15 and you were attacking someone with -1 AC, you would have to roll 16 or higher on a d20 (15 or higher if you were only trying to hit AC 0). Basically, you subtract your d20 roll from your thaco to see if you hit the target AC.
as far as parties go, the best way to see everything the game has to offer is to play through it 3 times. one time with an all good party, one time with all nuetral and one time with all evil
Ah, cool thank you all for you answers. That should help me figure it all out hopefully
I can't say how happy I was when they changed the D&D system (not this game, but the tabletop rulebooks) from that dreadful, incoherent THAC0 system. Talk about double negatives and hard-to-pronounce words, not to mention low armor being better than high armor ROFL.

Well here is to hoping any new games come with the new system then XD

Icewind Dale 2 used the 3.5 edition ruleset, and it was a lot easier, in my opinion.
