Use the zandronum multuplayer client, launch the server and change the skill level to 4 for nightmare I believe. command should be "rcon skill 4" I think

I generally don't do vanilla doom anymore though.

I just gave Zandronum a test run and when I get to the end of the 1st level, it says I committed suicide when I hit the button and then put me back at the beginning of the level. Is there a way to fix this?

Also, I never got to play Nightmare co-op in the game's glory days, so I want to do it for Doom's 20th anniversary this December. It's one of my favorite games of all time.

There is also Doomsday Engine with build in multiplayer lobby, but not many use that one.
