DOOM (1993)

DOOM (1993)

Doom 1&2 included in DOOM 3
Is there much difference between the doom that you buy individually from the ones that come with DOOM 3? I bought the BFE of doom 3 & it came with both.

You may wish to wait for another repsonse, but I believe that none of the games in the DOOM 3 BFG edition are moddable. I could be wrong but I hear lots of grumbling about this. I know for sure DOOM 3 BFG is not currently working with mods, but I thought I've also heard that the first two games also suffered this same fate with the release of BFG.
cant mod them and no final doom or master levels
that kinda sucks but for the price i guess not so bad.
I'm waiting for D3BLG to go on sale again, hope it will ... :( I never thought or knew it came w/ it's predecesors... but I just downloaded SNES emulator and Im playing D1, Im on Inferno. I really hope they put on sale D3BLG... D:
BFG i meant LOL
So if I get Doom 3 I can play the original Dooms without having to use a special engine (since I can't get Ultimate Doom to work on Windows 8).
Ultimate Doom runs great for me on Windows 8, but I am using the ZDoom source port. Give it a try. It should get the game running and it offers quite a bit of upgrades to the game, while still keeping the vanilla Doom gameplay we all love. And it is still under development to this day.

Yeah, they should run in ZDoom or GZDoom, but there is a bit of a problem.....

Sorry, to say this, but I believe those versions were censored...

First, they ruined the damn Wolfenstein 3D homage map.

It's still there, but they removed all of Wolfenstein 3D's assets, what, they trying to be "sensative" or something? First thing on the chopping block, they removed the Wolfenstein 3D Nazi's, and all the textures, so you won't be able to find the secret items in that stage, or appreciate the homage.

Second, (And not as important.) the Red Cross got upset, so the health kits no longer have a Red Cross on them.

I guess that might seem like a minor gripe, but by removing this stuff, they probably threw online multiplayer (Source-port based) in the trash, since the new version is incompatable with the old version, you'd have to have a friend running the same version, which most people don't have.

Well, if you want to play online multiplayer, you might as well just get the original version which is on Steam, otherwise you should be okay... I'm not sure if it's compatable with mods, and I mean, Doom is all about modding nowadays...
If you're a fan of the original DOOM games, buy the classic complete. If you've never really played them, like doom 3 and just want the playthrough experience of the first two games, get BFG. Classic Complete includes the otherwise unbuyable master levels and the final DOOM, and its the original files and not an in game game like the BFG, therefore more customizable.
