Sorry, to say this, but I believe those versions were censored...
First, they ruined the damn Wolfenstein 3D homage map.
It's still there, but they removed all of Wolfenstein 3D's assets, what, they trying to be "sensative" or something? First thing on the chopping block, they removed the Wolfenstein 3D Nazi's, and all the textures, so you won't be able to find the secret items in that stage, or appreciate the homage.
Second, (And not as important.) the Red Cross got upset, so the health kits no longer have a Red Cross on them.
I guess that might seem like a minor gripe, but by removing this stuff, they probably threw online multiplayer (Source-port based) in the trash, since the new version is incompatable with the old version, you'd have to have a friend running the same version, which most people don't have.
Well, if you want to play online multiplayer, you might as well just get the original version which is on Steam, otherwise you should be okay... I'm not sure if it's compatable with mods, and I mean, Doom is all about modding nowadays...
