game doesnt launch

i just bought this game and it doesnt launch. it gets to the startup screen, then when i click play it doesnt do anything. HELP

So you aren't getting any error message at all? What hardware and version of windows are you running the game on? If you've only just run the installers (DirectX, XNA, .NET), have you tried restarting your computer before running the game again? Lastly, does Retrovirus.exe appear in the task manager?

hw is gtx 550 ti with 2 gb video ram, cpu is i7 quad with 3.4 ghz, ram is 4 gb, windows 7, and i have tried restarting, and yes it does appear in task manager

Do you ever see the Retrovirus splash screen after pressing Play in the Launcher? The splash screen has no buttons and usually appears only for a few seconds before the game starts,

Does the hidden game use any CPU, and how much memory does the task manager report it is using? This could help us determine where the game is hanging.

Also, do you have two monitors or anything else about your desktop that is not typical?

no special monitor setup, i was able to get it to launch by going to the folder with the .exe, but now it crashes when i get to the level select screen (right after difficulty selection), when i launch it from steam and it disspears, it takes 0 cpu and 72 kb of memory, and i see the splash screen only when i launch it from the folder

and it runs on my really crappy laptop just fine (but at 10 fps, so dont wanna play it there)

having the same problem have not gotten to play the game cause of it

When you run the game from the folder and it crashes, do you get an error message? If not, is there an entry in the Windows Event Log generated from the crash?

for me at least, it crashes on "loading hills." There is no error message, and the process is gone from task manager, ill get back to you on the event log thing later today

I don't see anything in the event log, not totally sure what I am looking for but I couldn't find anything mentioning retrovirus or an application crashing. Also, as an experiment I tried starting the chute challenge, and for some reason I can play that just fine.

My game wont even start, it just appear on the taskbar and in task manager but nothing is showing except the game sitting on the taskbar and i cant click anything unless i alt-tab the game, and i tried running the exe directly and run as administrator and in xp compatibility and nothing worked, i still get the same result.

I think developers shoud solve this failure.

But yeah, i know what you mean, ive played before a lot of games, my pc is really old, but ive played many new games even some on high, like skyrim, metro 2033, crysis, SH homecoming, RE 5, etc etc, and yeah, a couple of games wont work with me either, not too many though, but at least they launch, unlike THIS game.

When I pressed the "play" button at the launcher, some image (developers called it as splash screen) appeared and disappeared in 2~3 sec, and nothing happened.
Nothing in taskbar, nothing in task manager also.

like you, I played so many kinds of Indie games, major games, and online games... but ONLY THIS game makes me sick.

Yeah its called splash screen, many programs have those, and well, i dont know how to make this game windowed, but really few games ive tried (okay for now i remember only one) wouldnt launch, and i made them windowed and it didnt close itself, if in your case it closed itself, but again i dont know if its possible to make it windowed.

And yeah, it makes me sick too, i just bought the game and installed it to check it out and it didnt launch, really annoying.
