Stuck Score
Not sure if it's a bug, but my score is stuck at 5.5mil. I'm ranked Dungeon Master and have all the upgrades bought/unlocked except for the last potion. Do I need to get the next rank to get my score increased? (If so this should probably be explained within the game)

Do you mean that you hit 5.5mil score and that number stays frozen during your run? If so, that's definitely a bug, since I know for a fact you can get higher without unlocking hero difficulty first.

Also, the score above that 10,000,000 freedom mark is your top score, not your cumulative score.

Thanks for the reply. This changes my opinion of the game both positively and negatively.

I'm curious. So each dungeon run, the score is reset? And the aim is to achieve 10 million in 1 run?

It's not that the score is reset. It's that it won't go higher unless you score higher than your current high score. And, yes, the aim is to achieve 10mil in one run. I've gotten to about 8.5 before. Up to a point, there's skill and unlocking upgrades. ..but then there's quite a bit of luck involved, too, such as not getting stuck on an enemy for which you do not have the combat tiles for its weakness, not getting stuck on a door or chest without key tiles, not hitting too many enemies that take forever to take down even with everything maxed out...

as zaxoth said. the score you see there is your "best" score. it only goes up if you do better in a single run

My score is stuck on 8,260,803 I just played for about an hour, and although I received a score each dungeon run my total score did not change. Everything is unlocked. I did deactivate all potions at some point. That may be when the total stopped accruing. But not sure.

Like the guy up there said, that score is NOT cumulative. It is your HIGH score. That is the highest score you've made in a single run. You have to get 10 million or more points in a single run to win.

What this guy said ^^ How can people not understand this? xd

The game doesn't exactly do a good job of explaining "get 10,000,000 in 1 run" as well as other aspects of the game. Not even the tutorial addresses this well. Putting the "top score" with the "10,000,000 freedom" below it also gives the implication that it's a running total(no pun intended) and not a single run score.

I hit 9 million a day ago so I probably would have figured it out eventually, but it's an issue that can easily be fixed and told within the tutorial at the end.

It says "Top Score," not "Total Score."

Additionally, one of the tips you get after each run says that the score displayed above the freedom mark is the TOP SCORE

I know what it says, but there's an implication due to the design. The game would be better off without that and after each run just say "Sorry you failed to reach your freedom, keep trying to get 10,000,000". Something like that. What good is seeing your "top score" anyway? The concept of the game is 10,000,000 or bust.

The only implication due to design is that you must increase your top score to break 10,000,000. "Top Score" actually means "Top Score."

The good of seeing your top score is knowing how close you've gotten to the target score so you'd know if what you've done is effective or if you need to change tactics.

And, yes, the concept is to get 10,000,000. So when it requires you to get scores of 1,000,000 or 5,000,000 to unlock a new run rank level which gives an even higher score multiplier, it's even further away from an implication of the design to make the mistake of thinking that the "Top Score" was your "Total Score."

Just use your brain!

I can't help but think there'd be less confusion over this if it was labeled "high score" rather than "top score". Pretty much everyone understands the concept of a high score.
