I'm in the same boat. I tried the demo at the end of December which was terrible because of the holidays. On top of that I moved to a new house in January. My income and spending was so variable within that 30 day trial that I was not able to get the jest of how useful YNAB would be for me. So to fork over 60 dollars for a program that may not be useful at all to me doesn't seem like a budget minded decision.

My first thought was just the same as the thread starter. Since I can easily make a budget in an excell file and personalize it with ease. Then I started to look at the extra features and got somewhat impressed. Specially with the sync with your mobile phone. I'm currently at the trial stage and wanted to test out the the sync with my samsung. I went to the store and there I saw the "hidden" fee to get your phone all synced up. Now its not a big fee but still annoying when it adds to the total cost of this program. But I guess they will reduce the price for V4 when they get closer to V5 or just remove the V4 and release V5 at full price. Anyways good luck to you guys who made it, great program with a good and easily understandable interface, just a bit steep price for me.

Also might add a language setting for different language would bring the total value for this program up, currency value was expected but a nice touch with the date setup, so kudos. I get really annoyed with the month, day, year dates. Its like if someone asked you to time their lap time and you answer with 1 hour 43 seconds and 2 minutes.

It's hard to take your opinion seriously, that this budgeting software is too expensive for you, when you own over 300 games on Steam. YNAB will help you double that number of games!

Unfortunately, I can't announce any sales, but we were in the last holiday sale, so there's a good chance we'll be included in any future sales. If you add YNAB to your Steam wishlist, you'll get an email from Valve if/when it goes on sale (I found this out by accident when a game I had on there went on sale).
