Just purchased :) Now, where can I download the Android app? I don't have to pay an extra $5 do I?

I can only find the Android app on the Play store and the Amazon Appstore, but at both places it costs $5.

For some reason I assumed you get the app for free with your purchase of the big software... am I mistaken?

Oh I think I see it now. I just misread the e-mails and some of the posts here regarding cloud sync.

It seems that I can install YNAB on any other computers I own with my CD key and that would work fine, but the android (and iOS) apps are independant of that but they will cloud sync.

I'll see if I can fit the YNAB app into my budget in that case... otherwise I'll just keep my receipts for when I'm at my computer like I have been doing.

Yeah, you have to buy the mobile apps (we have a free version on iOS, but we haven't got to the Android version of that yet - Android development was started about a year after the iPhone).

I just use receipts and bank downloads at the moment - my wife uses the Android app though, and her spending appears in YNAB for me to approve/complain about ;)

It does suck that we have to pay additional for a complimentary product, considering the huge price tag of the software.
Still debating on picking this up. If I got lifetime updates it would be a no brainer. Without it, it seems kinda like a money grab (especially since loyal users who have purchased YNAB 3 or Pro are forced to pay for 4 just to have ios and Android support).
The dev seems like a cool guy though.

YNAB 3 works with the mobile apps just fine (although no cloud-syncing -- you have to use wifi).

The problem with lifetime updates is that it makes it real hard for us to get the income to pay for multiple developers, as well as the support and education teams. We put in tons of updates before charging for a major release though, including huge new features. We won't force you to upgrade to a new major version either - if you're happy with what you've got, you are more than welcome to use it for as long as you want to.

We do try hard to make the upgrades a reasonable proposition though.

That's right - there's no plans for a flash sale now (although I'd love it if Valve would give us one ;)).
